About likes and rep

Do you guys think that with the change in forum software, giving out rep/likes increased?

I, at least, have been giving out much more than before software change.

What about you? Are you giving out more likes? Any theories on why that happened?

I think people are giving out more, seeing as the bar is much lower (it's only one click now, used to be two with some onus to write a message with it). And I guess a "Like this" button is less ambiguous to new users than the old star icon button for giving rep comments.

Personally, I am giving fewer. I would often rep posts I disagreed with if they were well-reasoned and argued, and I'd say as much in the comment. Now if I like a post it is strongly implied that I agree with what it says, and worse, that perceived agreement is public so everyone who reads it thinks I agree.

I really miss rep comments, probably more than any other feature of vB.

I think the ease of giving it has also made it a bit less of a marker of how well known/liked you are. In threads with a very positive vibe (like the Hype train or the SpaceX reusability thread after a successful F9 landing) people tend to give lots of rep.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
