Thinking of reviving it as "Real Exoplanets." I'm going to take it a lot slower than I did with Constellations and make it a lot more thorough.

Yes we all make mistakes and do it better the next time. Can't wait for the result.

I think I want to make it one system at a time. First, I'll start with Proxima Centauri and work on it until it's "perfect." Then I'll start working on the next system, and so on and so forth. Also, with the DOE modifications made by pkmniako, you'll actually be able to see the stars in the night sky!

well i am loveing around with the code and got Vega to work. Not to excrements on your work tho, i love extrasolar (only interstellar mod i use). would be nice if you were on discord tho

Notice that Technically with the latest release of

a photon sail can be powered by a 2 TW ground-based Laser  Transmitter

Which is making a mission to proxima centauri possible

I have being working for this Project/Ship in the last past weeks ( Solving or trying to solve all problems and details, probably I am missing something )

I am not sure if I am using the same version of "Alfa Centauri" but her is the plane I will try to be realistic as much as possible:

Using this mod: CentauriDreams (Updated by me to work on 1.7.3)

  • Planet "Von Braun" orbiting star "Proxima Centauri" which is orbiting "Proxima Centauri A & B"
  • "Proxima Bare Center" is at 41,386,231,576,325,600m from Sun


MAJOR GOALS:
-> Setup a "House"/Colony in a Interstellar Planet of Alfa Centauri
   That Colony need to have:

  1.     - House with space/room for 6 Astronauts: 3male+3female (2 Pilots + 2 Scientists + 2 Engineers )
  2.     - "Scientific car" vehicle with DLC Surface experiences for Scientists
  3.     - The Colony should build using the: "Ground Vehicle Factory", used later on as a transport for all Kerbins.
  4.     - The Colony should also have some kind of VTOL vehicle, once they will be left alone.

    
-> The Interstellar-ship should return to Kerbin in "Autopilot"/"remote control mode",
   in about the same time of previous Journey in a total, sample: 30y+30y or 70y+70y, with scientific value cargo (600kg of Rocks) and "Loads of Science" stored

Ship Crew:

  • - 2 Pilots
  • - 2 Scientists
  • - 2 Engineers

STEPS:

  • - Kerbin Launch
  • - Kerbin Orbit
  • - Escape "Kerbin" SOI
  • - InterStellar Journey Acceleration
  • - Escape "Sun" SOI
  • - Burn InterStellar Prograde
  • @( InterStellar MaxSpeed Point )
  • - Burn InterStellar Retrograde
  • - Intercept "Proxima Centauri A&B" SOI
  • - Intercept "Proxima Centauri" SOI
  • - Intercept Alfa Centari SOI
  • - Alfa Centari Retrograde
  • - bi-impulsive (Hohmann) Transfer to Planet "Von Braun"
  • - Intercept "Von Braun" SOI
  • - Burn Retrograde at "Von Braun" PE
  • - Land Ship on land
  • - Unload the moving factory
  • - Setup and Deploy the Factory
  • - Construct the first "planet house/base" and the first "Scientific car"
  • - Refuel Ship with "LH2" only!

     @ (RETURN on a GHOST SHIP!)

  • - Takeoff refuel "FusionPellets" in a planet Like "Jool"

       I tested the refuel process (In "Jool") at 80km of altitude and took 2days to refuel all "FusionPellets" in my current Ship version
      The funny thing is that I used "LH2" as fuel to escape and used almost zero fuel, because was using and Scooping at the same time :)

  • - Return with all previous steps again in ("Autopilot"/"remote control mode")
  • - Deliver all value content to Kerbin and the 100% reusable ship, except the "cargo/payload" left on target planet

In Resume:

I am trying really hard to keep parts bellow 150 (KSP performance threshold where FSP became really slow and with pauses...), but I have presently 158 , I already tested all steps individually but, I feel that I still have margin to improve :)

 

 

 

Testing the return (Alfa Centauri to Kerbin) refuel process of FusionPellets and LH2, in 2 days only:

Additional notes that I forgot, the ship can land on Ocean or on Land.

Can move as a boat or as an helicopter too!

  • - Total Crew MAX for a Inter planetary Journey 37 pax.
  • - Max Crew on InterStellar Jouney 13 pax.

Intresting, could you made this fixed version of CentauriDreams  available somehow?

The takeoff is done in phases.

Phase-1: Using differential force (one of the most powerful forces in universe :), some people underestimate them :) ), using the HLAirships, climb until 8km.

Phase-2: Adding a stage with 4 engines (NV-GX Emancipator scale 6.6m) from 8km to 52 km of Altitude (Thrust 66,542kN)

Phase-3: Stop Phase-1 and Phase-2  the Adding a stage of 4 engines (daedalus scale 8.859m) above 52 km of Altitude (Thrust 69,757kN)

I was testing the house/deploy construction again, because I had a new version of it ...

That's why some times the small details matter! In this case I just changed the ladder, nothing can go wrong right? :)
