Are you using the experimental scatterer dll that changes the cloud color at the sunset and sunrise?  If you are deleting scatterer and add the one back that came bundled with SVE.  The experimental version of scatterer does not work with SVE.

No, just the SVE bundle. From OP here, and tried the CKAN bundle too. Same results.

Next time I have the chance I try without scatterer at all.

Edit: @Galileo the problem persists even without scatterer. It looks like this:

P0AcvGg.jpg

When I download EVE alone, the clouds look fine, btw.

Thanks for your help!

I have no idea.  I have never seen that. Remove all of your mods and try with just SVE

Negative. Tried a clean new install with just SVE. Did that even before I came here.

For what its worth, SVE always worked nicely for me on all 1.1.3 installs. I havent tried it on 1.2.0, and now on 1.2.1 it gives me this. Maybe something in KSPs graphic settings that changed? I started with default settings in 1.2 and tweaked them since (screen resolution etc)

Generally I dont use many mods, just Editor Extensions and SVE or EVE/Scatterer.

I'll just go with EVE and Scatterer in the meantime, and play around with this on another install. Would be nice to be able to fix it. If you get any idea please let me know.

Thanks again and keep up the great work

Considering I've never seen that issue posted in the thread before it's likely something on your end. Post your log files so Gal and others can look into your system and see what you might be doing differently. Are you running Dx9 or 11, OpenGL? Things like that.

Sure. Here´s the output log. Let me know if I should post anything else too. I dont use OpenGL or anything like that.

I dont know. How could I tell?? Anything else works as always. Even the clouds work perfectly when I get them from EVE directly.

My clouds are higher resolution than what eve provides im pretty sure. try a lower resolution and see if it goes away

I only tried the low and med resolutions of SVE on 1.2.1 so far. And I believe on the low res its even slightly worse.

Sometimes its fine for minutes on end, and then when I move the camera suddenly it starts and wont go away. Scene changes might fix it for a few moments again.

I also noticed when I disable the ocean shaders in scatterer the ocean texture dissapears completely. And if I install Scatterer alone (download from scatterer OP here on the forum) this does not happen (ocean shader disabled = stock ocean texture). Might be related, who knows.

Thanks again for trying to help.

aha! thats why, i think. When you disable or enable the ocean shaders, you MUST restart the game completely other wise you get really bad artifacting.

oh wow, thanks, I'll give it a try tonight. Lets see if it fixes the clouds too.

Thanks again and keep it up. Love your mods.

Unfortunately I could not fix the clouds this way. I tried all kinds of things over the last 2 days, and that flickering static noise in the clouds was always there, scatterer or no scatterer, countless restarts too.

Now I am afraid I will get the same on GPP too. I was sooo looking forward to that nice mod ;.;  I dont dare to even try it at this point.

On another note, how does one decide which resolution to pick anyway?? I have fairly decent laptop with an i7, a GTX860M and 16GB or RAM. What would be a wise choice for SVE??

By browsing my Laptop specs I realized it says DirectX11.... I have no idea what that is, but I remember @Nhawks17 asking for something like this. Might this be a reason for the bad clouds after all? And if somebody would be kind enough to explain what it is and what it does and maybe how to get rid of it??

Thanks all for your time and help, and sorry for the newbie Qs. And sorry for the misinformation to @Nhawks17 too. I assumed you were talking about 3rd party programs

The directx 11 thing on your laptop is normal.  That's just letting go you know it's compatible up to directx 11. Ksp runs on directx 9 and has issues when directx 11 is forced in the command line.  Sorry you can't seem to get it working.

The way you determine what resolution you need to use is to try them all 3 versions until you get the performance you want.

Okay, thanks anyway, and dont be sorry. There is still EVE and Scatterer for me to use in the stock system, at this point I am only a bit concerned about GPP... I'll miss the clouds, but will get used to it.

Another thought about that problem: could you see it having any connection to the graphics settings from the KSP settings menu? There are some adjustable parameters that I dont really understand fully.

Thanks again

It's possible,  but I'm not 100% sure.

hello

it's been a while I haven't had the time to play KSP and I recently updated it to 1.2.1. I hope I am in the right section.

I have only 23 mods, am using CKAN, and everything is working fine but the clouds. I have no clouds, no auroras.

Hcoznjg.jpg

And EVE manager tells me the clouds configs have "invalid names". What does that means ??? I didn't do anything but installing the mods via CKAN, SVE High Res and SVE scatterer config files.

I need some help I guess. What would you suggest?

@scavenger Are the clouds showing up in the game itself? Or are they just not present in the main menu? It's a known issue that clouds and post-processing effects like Scatterer don't show up in the menu. If things are running fine in the game, I wouldn't worry too much. Otherwise, you'll need to post your logs and possibly a picture of your gamedata folder. I'm not super literate with the coding so these folks are the ones who can help more. But I can help with simple operator-level stuff.

Hello, I get a problem with the clouds when I take a supersampled screenshot, they have small gray squares only on the clouds, tried taking same size screenshot without only SVE and they didn't appear in the final result, why is that?

Here is a 200% enlarged image:

thank you @Doc Shaftoe, no they didn't show up in game either. I wouldn't have posted by just looking at the main menu anyway, but you don't know if I'm experienced or not

OK, since then, I launched it with opengl and clouds are showing in game. Sometimes in main menu but not too often.

Then I had two issues:

- sky is black during the day, at the space center and during flights

- kerbin is totally, plain magenta in the map view during a flight. Not from the tracking station

Then I reinstalled SVE + scatterer cfg file instead of SVE scatterer cfg (CKAN uninstall everything if you try to modify just a part of a mod pack) but same issue.

Then I switched back to DirectX and how magic, now everything works like a charm!

Well, after 2 years, things haven't changed much... Unfortunately some mods damage their files by themselves because of slight incompatibilities, or it's CKAN and the install order which is buggy, or switching from opengl to directX and back may alter some cached files, and since the mod's caches are never cleaned up because it's caches, well, things are never perfect and it's so difficult to point out where the issue comes from.

But it's why I enjoy computers so much :)

Problems always show up some day and you never know why and how :D
