Changing focus in map view

Recommended Posts

I fly over the sea with two Kerbals, one goes EVA and jumps into the water to get a surface sample. I press "]" to change focus back to the plane, but then I can't focus back to my Kerbal in the water. It gives me the message "No nearby objects to focus. Use the Map View to select distant ones." I've tried switching in the map view but I can't see how to do it. Please tell me how to do it.

Hi liquidmetalrob, [ and ] are for vessels within physics range which is usually 2.5km, though it's 22.5km for stuff that is airborne.

Your Kerbal will be splashed down, so you need to find their icon on Kerbin in map view to switch to them.

The icons can be close together, and you will need the Kerbal filter enabled, mouse over the top edge of the screen in map view.

Hope this helps !

Thank you @Rodhern! That is the first time I've seen anyone mention that you have to upgrade the tracking station and the game doesn't explain that at all. Now I have the option to switch to my other Kerbal. When I try it still says "Cannot switch vessels in atmosphere" but at least now I know I'll be able to do it in space when I need to.
