Yea, so forgot to post a reminder here earlier today but the launch was delayed until this afternoon and was ultimately a success!! You can click here to view the Ops Tracker at the time of launch to load the ascent telemetry data and/or page through the mission history. A huge milestone has been achieved! Onwards to orbit!! (and more kerbed suborbital missions)

Kerbed mission #2 was flown successfully yesterday, carrying Commander Valentina up into space! You can recap the mission on the Ops Tracker. Use the history to go back to the Launch event if you would like to see the streaming telemetry data. Next kerbed mission set for sometime early November, date to be announced early next month.

BRAVO! (just rewatched the flight tracker) So, who launches on the next kerbed mission? Kaptin Jeb?

Correct, he rotates into primary crew position with Specialist Bob as his backup. Bill will train for primary CapCom seat with Commander Val as his backup

This is ridiculously rewarding to watch after the years of prep and research flights. :)

Good to hear, that was one of the main goals of all this

Success on the 2nd flight of the Progeny Mk7-A, igniting its 3rd stage engine higher up and able to maintain control this time. This is a big step for more advanced guidance fins and engine gimbaling as well as moving on to larger SRBs with the Mk7-B next year. Click the launch image to view the Ops Tracker page

I keep forgetting to come here with updates. KSC was attacked last week when we attempted to send Jeb up into space. He's fine thanks to the LES but our launchpad received significant damage when a Deuce flew into the rocket and caused an explosion. In the video below, you'll see the aircraft glide in silent & dark from the left and the LES carrying Jeb away to the upper right:

The investigation remains ongoing, all new developments will be posted via twitter. You can read more about what happened on the website.

whoops, forgot to come here and announce details for our first launch of 2020. Well, it went off successfully earlier today and you can review the mission and replay the in-flight telemetry on our Ops Tracker. Our main goal for 2020: ORBIT! This was a big potential step in that direction, we hope to follow up with an orbital attempt next month!

The time is near!! Our third orbital attempt approaches this month - launch date has been announced for 2/20 @ 14:33 UTC. As always, you can find more information about the rocket and the mission on our Ops Tracker. I'll try to remember to post another reminder right before the launch as well

If anyone is wondering why this is our third attempt, here's what happened to the first two.

Launch reminder!! Be sure to tune in before 14:33 UTC if you want to catch the launch live. Will be posting any major updates here during the mission - assuming it makes it into orbit :P

Under the Lights

Will be awesome to see this night launch someday but for now it just bathes under the lights of the KSA colors while awaiting launch tomorrow

Welp, there goes my chance for the live broadcast.

bummer! One's gain is another's loss...

It could still be scrubbed for the day if winds don't continue to trend downwards. We just launched the next balloon to find out...

If anyone needs the launch replay, it is here and it is a nail biter!! Oooohhh man can't believe that happened and we got soooo close!! Thankfully enough thought was put into the mission design that we were able to save the spacecraft from running out of power and deploy Kerbin I. They are now two separate craft and can be clicked on below to go to their vessel pages. A new feature too is the ability to click between them as related vessels. Open up their additional details via the title bar below the vessel image and page back through their history for an overview of what's happened so far

You can also review the entire development history of the Ascension Mk2 leading up to and including this first launch via this mission report timeline

Right now we are just getting the feel for operating an orbital spacecraft, even though it is not yet technically in orbit as we need the orbit to be stable to call this mission a success. The first launch of the Ascension Mk2 goes in the books as a failure, but hopefully the Kerbin I mission will not share that fate. With such an high apokee we already know the probe will stay up longer than our 5 days of hibernation so we have the time to figure things out. It will be all hands on deck for the next 24 hours at least, with shifts in Mission Control, to make sure each time the spacecraft comes into comms range and passes through the upper atmosphere we can collect as much telemetry data as possible to better constrain its trajectory to be able to plot future position and maneuvers. @KSA_MissionCtrl will continue to closely follow the actions of controllers and provide all the technical mission details we can. Any questions - just ask!

I'm trying to watch on a smartphone. Is there a video I'm just too blind to see?

no, there is no video. Maybe someday. I've done it before in the original KSA run but at the moment there is just no time to either re-implement it or actually compose the video. Not to mention in-universe technical reasons and in-game technical reasons
