Test/simulation mode

Recommended Posts

Not a new idea in itself by a long way, but now with 1.2 having it's 'set orbit' and adjustable 'hack gravity' features it may be a fairly easy, and worthwhile, thing to include...

From the VAB/SPH select 'Test' (a new button) rather than 'Launch' this then launches normally, but freezes game time and tones the display colours down to give a more subdued look (not monochrome necessarily, but in that direction).  This then leaves you free to fly and use the 'cheat' tools to check out your craft as you wish.  When done select 'End Test' from the drop down altimeter or ESC menu, which returns you to the VAB/SPH.  Maybe disable the comms network and kerbnet etc too whilst in 'Test' mode.

Perhaps a funds cost (X funds per minute) could be applied for career mode too.

It should be taxed in career somehow, funds per minute simulation looks fair, in my opinion the cheat menu should get disabled in career, however. Please don`t bash me now...

Instead reviving dead Kerbals the next most time in duty should get the orange suit, so the most aged can easily be recognized.

Currently the cheat menu does give a test opportunity, especially if used in conjunction with quicksave and revert, but they aren't necessarily switched on in any given game depending on personal settings.

If, as you suggest, the cheat menu is disabled in career then maybe the 'test' mode could override that and allow access to it.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
