I'm just going to tape a big Dres picture onto my back.

Then you can act incensed when some asks what you are...

"What, you've never seen a guy wearing a Dres before?"

I've changed my idea several times.

First I wanted to make a Ringwraith costume from Lord of the Rings, but abandoned it because I was taking too long to plan it and I was running out of time to actually build it.

Them I wanted to be a Viking (historically accurate, mind you, with real mail, and none of those nonsensical helmets with horns), but that had to be aborted too because it cost too much money to get the mail and helmet.

Now my plan is to be the Black Knight from Monty Python. It shouldn't be to difficult, since their budget was almost as small as mine.

I always wanted to go as a Knight with real chain mail....but the cost of all those 1/4" split washers was and still is pretty staggering. Not to mention the time involved.

But it would go a long way to putting up with bar fights. :D

Maybe one day I'll be rich enough to commission a full set of Gothic plate armor for myself.

Better get back to work on that Aerospace Engineering degree.

Historical vikings get shocked. They had never spent much money for anything,..
Also there is a berserker / hermit option. A pigskin robe, a necklace of teeth, leggings, beard, so on.

I've gone in chain mail before, a buddy of mine made a long mail shirt---it's knee length on me. He as a replica sword, too. Only downside is that when you try and catch a stemless wine glass against your chest in it, it shoots the glass out like a pumpkin seed. In my case into a sink, lucky (where it exploded).

The hauberk is about 17-18kg. He also made a leather belt and frog for the sword.
