If SQUAD added Gas Planet 2 what would you want the moons to be like?

If sqquad were to add Gas Planet 2 what would you want the moons to be like?

Personally I would want there to be a Titan analogue. I want a moon with low gravity (roughly 1/10th of a G) and an atmosphere of 1.5x Kerbins in pressure. This would closely match Titan and would be very fun to explore. I would also want a trojan moon somewhere, maybe Phoebe analogue, Phoebe is a moon around Saturn that might have been spherical once but was beaten out of shape.

That's just what I want. What would you like to see added to GP2. Eastereggs? Moons? another monolith?(YES)

Honestly the number one thing i dislike with the current planets is the lack of actual unique features.  I know its unlikely we will get that much detail because of performance requirements, but stuff like valleys, hills, cliffs, ect is majorly lacking in the majority of KSP planets.  Take Duna, aside from horrific stock textures, it is just too flatish and lacks any stand out features or anything (yes im spoilded by sci-fi movies but at least give us something to make those low altitude dogfights more sci-fi movie like, trench runs, lots of terrain that you need to dodge).  A few planets are actually decent imo.  Kerbin is good minus a few terrible textures such as the snowy coast north of KSC being jagged squares.  Mun has its share of trench systems, cliffs, bumpy terrain, and flat as well for when you get bored of dodging rocks while trying to bomb something.  Pol is very nice with its low gravity, really neat rock formations, and just lack of flat period.  Most planets could be fixed by just giving them better textures and normal maps (im looking at you Jool, terribly terrible texture, pretty much forces you to use cloud mod to stop eye bleeding), but land modification would be welcome even if it did ruin save game compatibility.

As for new planets, id love one more planet with a jet engine capable atmosphere but something completely different from laythe and kerbin, perhaps with lowish gravity like Duna or even Mun and not sure what for terrain.  Id also love to see a volcanic planet (not sure if lava could be implemented but itd be really neat if that was doable, as well as the thermal effects of landing in lava), with lots of volcanos and stuff.  Finally, while i have no expectation of it, id absolutely love something that looks like it was abandoned by aliens or whatnot and contains synthetic constructs (preferably with glowing bits here and there).  The planet would have leftover structures, perhaps post apocaliptic to make the lack of any life plausible, with lots of wiring on teh ground, lanch pads, spaceports, houses, factories, ect (some destroyed some intact), maybee even a few with power leftover (glowing windows, ect).  Actually, now that i think about it, some sort of basic city like formations would be very nice if they were implemented in a future game version.  Im not saying tons and tons of detail, but something like 2-4 cities on kerbin would be super cool, even if they were very low poly and didnt have much building variety.  Just something to change up the complete lack of synthetic constructs (and while we have easter eggs they are way to minor to count) would really make the game much more enjoyable imo (sadly the mod that lets you do this isnt updated to new versions)...

Volcanic planet

High atmo-pressure, oxygen planet

Oddly-shaped world, making orbits stranger due to the risk of hitting stuff

A planet with a lot of mist

Snowy planet with atmosphere

1 side of a planet volcanic, the other icy, tidal locked to gas giant

Oh and why not make the gas giant an ice giant?

In memory of @NovaSilisko's ideas...

  • A large but extremely smooth body made of soft hydrokarbons. Orbit at Tylo-level speeds, extend a wheel to the ground, brake to a stop over a continental distance. Bonus points for oblate shape or fast rotation.
  • An extremely irregular moonlet where you won't know if you're standing on a plain looking at a mountainside, or vice versa. A disorienting experience. Bonus points for cave-type easter eggs.
  • The false gas planet. Say goodbye to the inky abyss under Jool and hello to a frozen rocky core under a hundred atmospheres.
  • Our old friend the Two Planets in One. Moderate surface pressure and poor visibility, but with spectacular mountains that top out close to vacuum.

And a proposal of my own:

  • A detached atmosphere. A ring of air (see The Integral Trees by Niven) in orbital motion high over a planet, modelled using already existing atmosphere configs with creative altitude and latitude curves. Can be used for aerobraking, stunning scenery, and kerbal-powered flight.

Something with different atmospheres. Currently we have 4 bodies with atmospheres. Two bodies with kerbin type air (laythe, kerbin), one thin (duna) and one thick (eve)

That`s not enough. More please.

Hot ones, opaque ones, really high ones, just more variation than a couple of kerbins, one thick and one thin.

If anything feels like it`s still a placeholder it`s the planetary system. Especially atmospheres.

1. A volcanic moon like Io

2. A moon with thick clouds and lakes like Titan OR a moon with thick clouds where it snows with high winds on the surface.

3. A moon with water gysters and tectonics like Triton, Europa or Enceladus

4. Some more asteroid moons which Shepard the rings, much like Prometheus and Pandora.

5. An oval shaped moon like Methone

6. Possibly a moon with a moon (I'm hesitant to say this because there's no example in our Solar System, however a big enough body far enough away from the parent could harbor a small asteroid moon)

Of course, I think the game needs an overhaul in terms of atmospheres. I think we need clouds, wind and storms that actually effect the flight characteristics of spacecraft, that'd add much more variation in the current atmospheres and also allow greater expansion on future added atmospheres.

I liked the ideas I like, I can't think of anything better. Also maybe a speck so far away, that it moves very slow on retrograde orbit? You know, it was normal moon once, but then it got hit so hard it was pushed to opposite direction.

Oh and on that alien abandoned planet you could unlock alien parts to build cool alien spacecraft maybe like hover tech instead of wheels for a rover

You know you're talking about sci-fi, right?

Even if it were a belt or a smooth area or something right at the equator. Landing spaceplanes in reverse on Minmus is one of my favorite hot shot maneuvers but it's a little tricky getting down below the mountains without slamming into the ground.

ETA: it could be its own biome like "North KSC Field" or some other fun kerbaly name.

squishy squelchy mud

fine lose powder

snow

anything that you have to design a solution to a specific situation or you sink or get stuck etc.  but then this wouldn't just apply to new moon,  KSP need terrain texture, muds and dusts etc...

Like making all of OPM stock, that's what!

It gives the Titan analog, and it's already finished, just hire CaptRobau and it's a done deal! Seriously, it's a win/win. SQUAD gets more staff (Kraken knows they need 'em) and we get 4 planets! Not 1, but 4 PLANETS! DO IT NOW!!!!!

A large-ish moon with a subsatellite. Also, something with an interesting color scheme. We have too many greys, and browny-greys, and bluey-greys, and yellowy-browns with little variation in color on the surface of a celestial body. I'd like to see something like Iapetus, with major distinct areas of vastly different coloration (and also of geography, perhaps). And something with some more color to it in general, the way Eve is shockingly purple. Bright blue would be nice, I think, or maybe red.

1.  Binary Moons, called Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Two small moons of the same size that are only a few Km apart rotating about a barycentre in the gap between them.

2.  Give a large moon a small moon or two of it's own.

I agree with #2, but #1 is impossible with the way they model body gravity. Either they're two separate SOIs, or you have a naked point mass which will wreak havoc with orbits.

For my own part, I want a moon that rotates extremely quickly, like 'just shy of tearing itself into debris' quickly. Bonus if its mass is very high
. I'd love a body where the d/v to land on the pole versus the equater was a 1000 m/s difference.
