Wait, in 1.2 you don't have to return to Kerbin to gain experience?

Why would scientists with experience be useful? They are basically disposable components for resetting and restoring experiments. Level 0 scientists can do that fine and we pay them a lot less.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could recruit Kerbal scientific or engineering Interns, just to make the low wages and high risk more hilarious?

Perhaps give them blue suits?  They would function just like level 0 Kerbals now,but seem more confused.

Oh my god... Is Jeb safe?! You didn't strand him did you?!

Ah. Jeb, you ask? Sad story.

You know the survival program we run in New Mekico for all the astronauts? Well, we sorta forgot about Jeb's team for a little while when they were there.

It was easily done. We had the whole Robinson thing happening on the Mun. Then we lost the Minmus craft.

By the time we got all the other stuff sorted, it was twelve weeks that Jeb's team had been in the desert. With supplies for two weeks.

Oh, Jeb made it out alright. He was the only one that did though.

Funny thing. He'd actually gained weight. But lost his mind. He can't sleep because when he does, he wakes screaming for ketchup.

Poor Jeb.

Why ketchup?

Dear god... I would have used mustard or marinara. Do you have any idea how unhealthy ketchup is?

Compared to eating seven fellow Kerbals, I think a bit of ketchup is Jeb's least worry.

The good news though for Jeb is that he is being released from his psychiatric ward!

We won't pay for any more treatment.

  • 2 weeks later...

All good guesses.

In fact Kerbals are green because they are infested with billions of tiny green mites.

When they are first torn free of their mother's back, Kerbal's are a healthy pink colour. Shortly after this, in a fit postnatal trauma, all Kerbal mothers squeeze their offspring hard, transfering over millions of blood-sucking stinking green mites.

The mites are a mixed blessing. Yes, they do help the young Kerbals blend into the shrubbery and so avoid their murderous older siblings. Unfortunately though, the mites do reduce the lifespan of the average Kerbal by 20 to 30 years and induce severe dementia in most Kerbals by the time they are 40.

Still, they look cute, right?
