Surface sample weight

I thought it might be interesting to assign additional weight to a vessel when a surface sample is brought on board.

My thought process is that a surface sample requires no outboard science equipment so there should be some penalty to Dv for such a high value science return.

I apologise if this has been suggested before, as I seem to be unable to search the forums right now.

That's seems a logical thing to include. It was a consideration on the Apollo missions so it's not a silly think to have to think about.

Perhaps the science rewards could get greater the more samples you return to make it worthwhile including.

I would also like to see the crew weight added to vehicle mass too, but that's a different thing completely.

I would imagine that any experiment which it is not possible to send back 100% of the data via radio should have a weight penalty as it should contain some form of sample material. I think under that system a sample return would weigh the most.

Same here.  I experimented with this using the external command seats a few saves back.  Shame they cant store science.

Could be done with a part module.  one which simply adds mass if any surface sample are on board.
