I liked the idea of this feature, but I never knew how to edit it. It would be interesting for my own purposes, but I can make do with imagining the different nations.

Honestly the flags and names in the pack are horribly ugly, but I do usually pretend KSC2 is a Baikonur to KSC1's KSC.

Hi @Ger_space, thanks again for carrying on support of Kerbal Konstructs. :) I was wondering if you had time to help me sort out an issue. I have 0.9.8.4 installed, as well as the Top Secret and Kosmodrome mods. Unfortunately, the launchpads aren't showing up in my game. All I seem to have are Kilo Sierra Papa and Round Range Launchpad, aside from KSC itself.

In my logs, I see the following:

[LOG 14:38:32.226] PSystemSetup: Cannot find facility named 'Kerbin Galactic'

As far as I know I've installed Top Secret and Kosmodrome properly. The packs are a couple of years old so likely they're not updated to support the latest Kerbal Konstructs. Do you have any suggestions on how I can get the launch facilities operational? I'm not well versed in Kerbal Konstructs, I'm afraid, but any help you can provide would be appreciated.

where have you looked? in the VAB, SPH or TrackingStation?

From the config files from Top-Secret I cannot see any error with the bases. the second base is only a runway for SPH launches.

did the mods work with the 0.9.8.2 release?

The error you posted is actually not from KK but from KSP itself.

Thank you for the suggestions. :) I looked in the VAB. I checked both 0.9.8.4 and 0.9.8.2. It appears that the Kosmodrome launchpads are available in 0.9.8.2, but not in 0.9.8.4. Do you need my logs at this point? If so I can recreate the issue with 0.9.8.4 and send them to you. Thanks again. :)

No, I need to replicate the issue by myself. I think my optimization statics-loader killed the mod for some reason. I'll post an updated release as soon as possible.

No worries, it's the holidays. Thanks for looking into this. I've got things working in 0.9.8.2 so I can make due until you have the new release. :)

A new release is online:

Changes

  • fixed loading of the kosmodrome mod.
  • added a "set Launchsite" Button to the launchsite selector, because I searched always there for one.
  • map: can show waterlaunch sites (toggled via the "other" category)
  • editor: added a waterlaunch category to the launchsite editor
  • editor: added set increment buttons to the statics editor

 

@SpannerMonkey(smce) The waterlaunch categroy is extra for you. If you want I'll send you updated configfiles for your statics package.

Thats brilliant cheers, it's always under the heading of erm? I'll exploit it fully ., :)  Thanks for the offer but you are going to be out of date somewhat :)  new dl soon . An example will do fine thanks

Something for the future.   :).  rotation/pitch would be a neat tweak if it rotated locally to the part rather than the world .  Is there a flag module for statics? if not could there be?.  Are there any cfg modules i don't know about? likely no, but worth asking .

Still trying to break it with things like a bridge that ended up 4km long ( it didn't look that far ) the start of the railway , and loads more harbor placements, and it's standing up well to the abuse. cheers        I

you know that the red spuare on the top left (left of the Object name) toggles the instance editor size?

If you press the "Edit Launchsite" button, you now can set the Site Category to "Waterlaunch". In the .cfg file it is

		Category = Waterlaunch

instead of

		Category = Other

 

I'll post an other small update (at about 19:00 CET) , it will contain a few fixes for your assets, because currently they crash KK on the next startup , when saved through the editor :huh:. some of your assets have no name set, but when I set one I did't check if the new name has whitespace, and then the loader crashes for some known reason.

That's very off behavior I've not seen.  I'll recheck the assets can't recall missing any names .... that said things got very odd when i loaded last nights update, the static editor was only partly functional, wouldn't save ,  although the base boss and launch window were fully functional.  Has something changed in KK that needs me to change the model format/position /layout? or have i forgotten something.  Re using the previous restored some but not all functionality which leads me to believe that one of my latest statics is screwing up some how.

Excellent on the extra  increments, although secretly I'd hoped for a .001 :)

I have no Idea how to add a flag to statics, but I'll look into it. The train is very beautiful. Can't wait for a release.

I broke the save function with the 0.9.8.3 pre-release ;.;  Your changes end up in the files, where the static is first defined. (like the KSC floodlights, you have a Model defenition, as there is also one in the floodlights mod, so yours Instances end up in Divicos folder, because his .cfg was loaded first) The resulting mess is epic.

I'll replace the 5  with a 0.001 increment, that's easy. I'll also have KK print the .cfg files, where are no names defined.
 

One of more long-term changes will be support of PQSMods for altering terrain height discribed here.

well I've just gone through them and it's chaos, the perils of copy paste cfg creation, so yeah guily lols so mamy screw ups :)

Latest update does not work for me. Plugin seems fine, with the button and all showing up but none of the KerbinSide statics are present in the game.

 

To confirm the issue i reverted from 0.9.8.5 to 0.9.8.4 and changed nothing else in my gamedata folder and the issue disappeared, all the Kerbinside statics are present again.

 

This said, my gamedata folder is... complicated... It is quite possible the new version is conflicting with something else.  Listing of \gamedata is in spoiler.

Unfortunately i do not have time to properly troubleshoot this at the moment. I will be able to do so Friday. Please let me know if there is anything specific you want me to test.

I made a new prerelase. This should fix the editor. 

Anyone can grab it here, but if you don't have problems with your current game and don't want to change the statics, you will not need it:

Changes:

  • editor: waterlaunch and runway Icons shown in statics editor for launchpads
  • editor: added 0.001 increment
  •  bugfix: editor: saving static objects puts the changes in the original .cfg files.
  • bugfix: editor: recreated missing objectnames are less buggy.
  • bugfix: cfg loader: objects with broken names less prone to crash the loader.

Unfortunately i do not have time to properly troubleshoot this at the moment. I will be able to do so Friday. Please let me know if there is anything specific you want me to test.

As I test every release with Kerbin-Side complete I have no Idea what happened to your installation. The the KSP_x64_Data/output_log.txt would help a lot, but you can also try the new prerelase. Perhaps you will not see any errors from now on.

i think I've identified the troublesome statics and put them to one side for now,  just checking the last few locations are as they should be and I'll upload a new version , which should prevent them giving your code grief :) 

I've also extracted some of the Kerbinside assets that get reported as having collider issues in the log, i''ll take a look at them, and if i can resolve the issues i'll fwd them on to you.

That part i don't understand. What I can add, is that movement is in the axis of the StaticObject, and the orientation is around thier own axis.
So instead of world-XYZ you would have forward/right/up for movement and pitch/yaw/roll  for rotation.

forget it i was being a dummy all i needed can be done by snapping to terrain then tweaking to suit.

Well, that was bizarre.

New version did nothing, game behaved as it did before (no statics on any KK version above 0.9.8.4) so for the heck of it i tired reinstalling KerbinSide as well. And now it works as expected on any version.

Problem solved, i guess. Wish i knew what caused it....

Probably you started the editor once, after that your kerbin-side config files got messed up. That shouldn't happen again.

To late, I already started testing a new interface:

Switchable between:
world reference: north/south(latitude), east/west(longitude), up/down(altitude)
object reference: forward, right, up (this will be more different from the world reference, the more the object is rotated)

I strongly dislike editing the reference vector. It's an internal thing and shouldn't be exposed. I might be wrong, but I think most Modders want to move an object to a predictable position, instead of editing a vector, where it' magnitude is later ignored and then is replaced with the new setting called altitude.

With some luck I can enforce double precision at the same time, without needing to rewrite major parts of KK.

Yes indeed, though there aren't many of us who use KK to the maximum potential it is a little frustrating getting placements just so, especially road sections that don't have a 30mtr transition piece to merge with the  terrain.. You're right in that the current system does not give the results you'd expect. ( or maybe I'm just too thick to grasp it :) )
