[1.2.x] Animated Station Screens

Recommended Posts

I have decided to try a new type of animation for KSP - a PowerPoint style slideshow. Originally inspired by and made for the mod Kerbal Kommander.

But I ended up using the parts in my save, so I thought some people would also like to have a standalone version.

Here's how it turned out:

Animating stuff was not the hardest part, the hardest part was coming up with ideas for the slides.

I may create more screens, but I need help with ideas for the animations.

Many thanks to @luizopiloto for letting me use his pirate logo.

That's amazing.  Are we able to customise for our own benefit?

That's right, if you're happy with how the decals move you can change the texture and have something new there.

Ideas? Oooo .... I have a few. :D

- A shot of Mission Control, with Kerbals doing their "Mission Control" stuff would be kinda neat (probably would be several layers) kinda like what we see on NASA TV.

- The Nightly News with Kom Krokaw actually doing the news (with a CC text field at the bottom) with a kerbal twist.

- A Documentary called "Interesting Things", with our Host ... Korgan Kreebin. He gets a freckle every time he talks (CC at the bottom), and something around him turns to solid gold.

- And, of course, "Kosmos" with our Host ... Karl Kagan! The text at the bottom (CC) says stuff that the real Carl Sagan would say, but with a Kerbal twist .. should be good for some laughs.

(I can do this all day! :D)

@BetaguyGZT Sounds very interesting. Does CC stand for "Closed Captions"? I would really appreciate the help with texts, they're not my strong side.

Yes indeed, that's what it means. I've written for two games. Nothing to it at all. BioMass seems to be at a good lull right now, so I've got time to write. PM me with how you'd like to proceed, and we'll go from there.

Looks very cool, just when I start building my space hotel, tourists will love them.

If you look for idea, why not a warning/safety slideshow ? Like something to remind kerbals to don't cook snacks on nuclear reactor's radiators or to don't smoke near gigantic, over-pressurized oxygen tank ?

@MeCripp I think it's very easy to do, just like with any other prop.

@tg626 If you're familiar with animations then it won't be a problem for you. These are handcrafted PowerPoint style transitions performed on decals. I briefly described it here:

I'll gladly answer any additional questions.
