They are certainly cheap and plentiful. Which one you looking at? 91/30, M44 carbine?

M91/30. It's cheaper, was more common during most of the war, and also presumably more accurate. Accuracy is a big deal to me, unfortunately, any milisurp rifles besides the Mosin is beyond my reach, so I guess I'll have to hope that the Mosin is as good as some people say it is (or as good as others say it isn't)

The cheap C&Rs are just about dried up. I got in on the tail end of the glory days of the CMP, picked up a six-digit SA Garand, an IBM M1 Carbine, a Smith-Corona 1903A3, and a Springfield 1903 from them. I also picked up a 1944 Colt 1911 from a consignment sale back in California, gentleman was selling his collection to help fund his retirement. It wasn't completely original, it was refinished sometime back in the 1950s or 60s, but it's still a nice piece of functional history.

We've had a tree up for a while, and some lights in the "trees" out front (juniper and piñon trees a little taller than a person). Saturday we're having a Christmas party... kind of crazy, friends, and friends of our kids with families... over 100 people likely (but not all at once, people stop by, then leave, usually). Not bad for someone who has no... spiritual interest.

British Columbia is covered by a strange white powder. I think the outsiders call it "snow" or something like that. Our elders had told legends about this mysterious substance and how it can turn into water when heated, but we dismissed those crazy old stories as myths. Now, they are the ones who are laughing. Drivers are driving worse than they usually are, salt is sold out everywhere, and every streetlight holds captive around 20 people each, grabbing them by their tongues. I don't think we can make it out of this catastrophe. We're done for.

What about a Schmidt-Rubin? I saw a Mosin for 249 doing  a quick google, and a S-R for 279.
