The Probodobodyne OKTO2 Solar Speed Challenge

Ok, this is simple,

*But I will have to explain to some of you that this challenge is about seeing how fast you can drive using only the 5.0 electric charge and solar panels.

- Use the Probodobodyne OKTO2 (Edit:QBE also allowed) core to make a drone rover. (sorry Jeb)

- Batteries are not allowed, so I suggest lots of solar panels. (OKTO2 has 5.0 electric charge, only enough for you to open your solar panels)

- get it to go as fast as you can and give us the screenshots providing prove so we can see the speed.

- The fastest one gets a cookie and a hugh.

- New rule: you must stay on the runway, this will make sure everybody is using flat terrain.

LEADERBOARD:

1st: Eidahlil : 56.8 m/s

2nd :  Martian Emigrant : 56.2

3th : Tex_nl : 54.2 m/s

4th : SuicidalInsanity : 54.1 m/s

5th : Martian Emigrant : 53:8 m/s

6th : Opus_723 : 53.4 m/s

7th : DoctorDavinci : 44.6 m/s

Tip: point towards the sun and don't try this at night.

Weighing in at 0.542 tons and consisting of 9 parts, I now present for your consideration, the CANUKWorks Somethin' For Nothin'

By comparison, a modern Ford Focus has a 1.3 t curb mass and a top speed of about 240 km/h (65 m/s). This thing had almost 1/3 the mass and did 160 km/h (45 m/s) on electric power only.

I wonder how DoctorDavinci's creation would do with three times the mass and room for four kerbals.

When I get home later this evening I will answer this question

A new winner: 11.3 m/s ^_^

[PicSnip]

11.3? How hard am I allowed to laugh?

46.5m/s!

Update: 53.1m/s! :P

Update2: With a minor redesign I briefly did 53.3m/s but was not able to capture a screenshot (yet).

You didn't say whether this is restricted to powered wheels. So I could put on a fat engine and really burn some rubber?

As long as you don't use batteries, why not ?

Updated the leaderboard.

I suspect the downhill one is not qualifiable....

So 53.8 m/s.

Yes, that is a flaw in the challenge, we should only use the runway from now on to set our time.

I changed the rules.

259.8 m/s

Took this right before leaving the runway- veered off to the left.

And since the actual craft is hidden by the pause menu...

My attempt (images in spoiler)

324.8, almost supersonic!

And the craft itself

  Reveal hidden contents

There's a QBE there, dont worry. No batteries.

I can not see the images...

Updated the leaderboard.

Solar panels are merely suggested in the OP besides.

No.

I regret starting this challenge with the line: "Ok, this is simple,".

apparently it is not.... ^_^

It is! Until the rules are abused and bent.

Now with solar powered guidance, 335.6 m/s.

I think I lost one of the rear fins- would explain the puff of smoke I saw each run- had a hard time timing the pause.

So no rockets !
