It works. I just launched it up, set up the landing gear, and landed it before deploying the plane and unfolding the wings.

Here are the images. You can see the landing leg hinges and the docking ports.

Thats a very cool concept.  How well does it fly?

I'm trying to send one of these:

A docket set of these:

I'd like my next mission to be the following docked together:

4x https://kerbalx.com/CalmLlama/BugsBuggy

It doesn't fly well and needs some heat sheilding, but it's not intended to fly. The puffs are just for orbital maneuvering as it's basically an orbital vehicle drop. I also need to redo the staging as I deploy the legs too early and when the chutes deploy they tend to clip through the craft. Ideally they would be deployed with enough time for them to dock into the landing position but not so early that they break instantly or burn up from reentry.

Also, I accidentally gave them suspension. The beams that the lover docking ports are on tend to act like a spring and allow it to absorb decently fast landings. The legs also provide enough room for the plane inside to be able to deploy its wings and fly out from under it. It's also not too difficult to deploy the plane in mid air, which is going to be a common occurrence I presume as neither the plane nor the box are intended for water landings. Also the plane does not take hairpin turns too well. It doesn't have the acceleration to recover from them.

Overall im quite happy with how this project turned out and honestly surprised I was able to make the plane and the box work so well. My folding plane is actually the smallest I've seen on the forums so far, and I'm kind of surprised by that but also quite happy with it.

So when can I take my turn to get some of these things in orbit? Btw if anyone wants to know how to deploy one of these things , just ask and I will gladly tell you. Or make a video tutorial.

Im putting the SC DropBox, because thats what the craft does, in a 200000 m orbit. It has 4 large docking ports so it can function as a refueling station once the droppods are used.

2 is the engines

3 is the solar panels

and whatever you do don't hit 1. Just dont please.

Done! I used one of the dropboxes just for testing purposes and it worked well. Here's the series of event. I forgot to screenshot the journey there so sorry.

Having to eject the plane and assemble it in mid air as a slight problem occurred with the drop pod. I was impatient with the legs and two of them escaped.

Ill put the file back into the google drive.

Uploaded! Someone really needs to go through and remove the garbage from orbit. Also do we even have a large land base set up yet, because if not we need to change that.

Unless it got deleted, this should be on Laythe somewhere:

Along with three exploration planes, an SSTO, and a rover/glider thing.

EDIT: It's got full ISRU capability, comms, power, and an outdoor dining table complete with beach umbrella.

That's all well and good but by turn 80 or whatever it is we should have a city built! Fine. During my next turn I will build the center of town, which may or may not just be a kerbal rip off of the Statue of Liberty. This is the 3rd iteration of this! Where are all the wacky and unique creations! We need to make this Babylon the best Babylon!

Also I meant a large group land base with multiple people's builds on it

I was going to send two SSTO airliners for passenger travel.  32 passengers + 4 crew with each plane.

I'm also sending a long range transport SSTO from Kerbin direct to Laythe.  I believe its sitting in LKO right now with 4700 DV, pending transfer burn.

In addition, i'm sending a mining base+station.  I'm just having issues with the Kraken showing up...

Did you upload it as a zip file?  I don't see it

No I put it in as a normal file

I can check if it uploaded properly. Did you check for a file called 11-12-2017? That’s the beginning of the name, so look for that.

I apologize if there is an easy way to do this, but i dont feel like downloading all of those files one at a time and then re-compiling a zip for you... and i would like to finish my missions...

Update:

Ok, my DMZ computer could download the whole dir, i zipped it and uploaded it for you.

Maybe? I think google didn’t copy it but took the actual file. What do you mean it doesn’t work as a save?

In KSP resume game screen it shows as a new save and wont load.  Its gotta be file corruption, or a missing file.  i re-downloaded it a couple times with the same result.

Am I allowed to use hyperedit to get my stuff where its going? I really want to join but I don't currently have the experience to launch stuff to laythe (or anywhere outside the Kerbin system). Everything I build will be using stock craft, I'll just use the hyperedit to teleport it where it needs to be.

I think that kinda goes against the point of the mission.
