Can't target docking port

I have 2 ships orbiting Dres I want to dock them but I can't target any docking port from either one (vanilla or not), any ideas?

your face when you can't set docking port as a target and then get it, that you are way too far.

Try swithcing to the other ship and clicking on the docking port you have there, click button "control from here'' then you switch back and turn on SAS and click '' target''! It will make your ship aimed at the part which is the control center, and in this case docking port would the control center. If it doesnt help try docking backwards. It means that you need to dock the station to the module, i know it sounds crazy, right?
