Why are conspiracy sites so common for space searches on google images

After the general wikipedia and wikimedia commons things show up, and maybe nasa.gov, then half of the images sources are from MOONLANDINGREEE.com.  This doesn't happen for the general searches, only for images.

EDIT: This seems to happen more with more obscure space subjects or uh... shall we say controversial scientists or engineers.  Tin-foil hat maniacs love von braun for some reason.  I was doing an infographic and essay on von braun so I saw lots about how "NASA IS EVILLL VON BRAUN REEEEEEEE".  It's kinda weird how half the same people who say that nasa is evil because of von braun are also holocaust denialists, which is rather contradictory (But lets not talk about that because then my thread will catch on fire).

I notice a similar thing with youtube - watch an astronomy-related video and if left to automatically start the next "related video", pretty soon it's playing flat earth and gophers on mars.

Why are sites about space games are so much more common than sites about repairing of fans and pumps in zero gravity?

'cuz space is phun!
Everybody looks for his own kind of entertainment and mostly nobody except nerds is entertained a lot by space mechanics (in both senses of "mechanics").

I haven't noticed it. I've never even heard of the site you speak of.

That's why I went to google and searched "moon", "moon landing", "iss", "jupiter" and "geostationary satellite". I skimmed a few pages for each search and not a single result from the site you mention; I've noticed only one from flat Earth society on the last query.

It must be your search and browsing history. Just admit it, you're a closet foil hatter.

Use a different search engine ...

Suggestion: block these tagging and filtering sites like google, facebook, youtube, .... completely from your pc/network. The internet will become much clearer, pages load faster and information less narrowed ;-)

Is this paranoid ? I don't think so ...

:-)

I've occasionally noticed a result taking me to a conspiracy page, but not really as a general trend.  However, because they like to zoom in and examine the tiniest of details, those sites are sometimes good sources of large, hi-res images.  I got a few of the wallpapers on my laptop from a moon landing hoax site.

Not what they were going for :D

Geostationary Satellite-Nothing

The Earth Is a sphere-nothing

Moon Landings-only the last two

the earth isn't flat-just a bunch of dumb stuff for a dumb basketball player

I'm using bing for some reason

I use this, primarily when the connections aren't crappy (when it does, I gave up and just use google - too often much faster, but god knows how many data they are having !)

You can try this one. Yes most of it will be basic, but after that you'll see the "standard" scientific sites - I'm not sure, but probably after tens of pages you'd start getting arXiv ?

yup not much to say after all ...

suspension of disbelief, and cash cow ... mostly sum up it all

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Neuroscience ... welcome ... 'sigh'

and you know history related world war two  ... i still  barely figure out how: %% people believed that they could take over %%>>the world ... i mean in all seriousness ... but it's just the same at different scale ... [insert, edu, no edu, strat knowledge, weapon knoweldge, amount of gladiator and etc ... what it show is: a yup "who was asking himself what's the world population total, is this really doable, does it really serve a purpose for myself and other biped, i know or not (feel free to apply to fauna flora you've heard off as well)", then come either the massive strike and resistance scheme & or civil population 300% bored or army 600% bored revolution kind of event ... sort of like that since long, but who, "how many" had the total population in mind let's say 110 years ago, before that's it's not even worth asking ]

education is also an ouroboros, it contribute people gettin more efficient in some domain, while making them weaker in some others, and whiles annoyin people that love power and control, while that educated population is usefull for them ... in that science is like a religion, it teach people some concept, philosophy, approach of stuff, some doubt as well

doubt is even an essential part of science wich is a paradox ^^

i mean objecivtely, and without the intent of offending anyone born randomly anywhere, and bein taught this or that by whatever local elder or ancestor habits ...

@WinkAllKerb'' I'm very sorry, yes everything can be taken as a death / satanic spiral, but please consider these (maaaybee nitpicked ? not sure) informations :

- Another candidate of "bad spreaders" : Facebook

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-38036730

- Basic differences in how Facebook vs YouTube works :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9ZqXlHl65g

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVfHeWTKjag

- The problem that YouTube have instead :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK4QtiPhTRQ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6o8RPCHXUA

including latest changes to the system :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t39O0ab1H74

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3adqyQiX5k

Yes I realize most of this is in YouTube and most can be considered polarized, but if you took the contents neutrally you can see that at least, YouTube content spread grows out of proper engagement - you have, have to see what's inside (unless you're a hard tinfoil or smh - I believe the reverse doesn't work), unlike some other platforms where the headline is enough.

EDIT : I have to admit apparently few tinfoil suggestions did make it for some of these videos, but that just shows that YouTube doesn't nitpick who can come. Though then you'd have to nitpick them yourself.
