Sarnus Pathfinder - the grand moons and Sarnus flyby mission

Recommended Posts

The Sarnus Pathfinder, launched almost five years ago, finally arrived at Saturn, unfortunately not staying there and leaving the entire Kerbol system. It was possible to achieve such speeds by ultra close Slate and Eeloo flybies, which gave it enough speed. All of them were perfectly planned, unfortunately, close Tekto flyby was impossible. During the slingshots, Pathfinder was able to capture stunning firsts of Sarnus system up close. It even found a completely new moon, designated Sarnus IV, the official name is still to come. Here are some of the best captures:

Distant Tekto:

The best quality image we ever made exceedes all the ground and Kerbin based telescope images. Tekto, also designated Sarnus III is an average sized moon, with light green ground and some very dark seas of unknown liquid. An upcoming mission to Sarnus will study it closer, maybe discovering amazing details about it.

Gigantic Slate:

Slate, Sarnus I, is a very prominent giant moon orbiting Sarnus. It seems to have lots of scars, valleys and mountain ridges. These may have been caused by some liquid, maybe even water, which caused plate tectonics to happen. This has to be investigated further by the upcoming Sarnus Explorer mission.

The newly discovered moon, Sarnus IV:

Our discovery image of a new moon, Sarnus IV. It seems to be of an irregular shape, but that is yet to be confirmed by another mission. Detailed images could be taken during this mission, unfortunately all the close up data was lost during a smaller failure of the computer.

And the last, but not the least, amazing ice moon, Eeloo:

Eeloo, Sarnus II, is a moon full of intermediate craters and brown streaks, seems to be pretty white in this picture. It is very bright and less dense than a normal rocky body like Moho, which means it is mostly made of ice. The brown streaks are possibly made of methane ice.

The upcoming mission, Sarnus Explorer, will be a brand new mission on its own, and it will explore the Sarnus system for a lot longer, staying on Sarnusian orbit.

The mods used are OPM, its dependencies and Hullcam VDS Continued

Oh, and also, may Chuck Berry, the one and only rock and roll father rest in peace.
