Strange monolith

Recommended Posts

I landed at one of the monliths on Duna, got this message in the world first milestones

"We have discovered a VERY strange monolith on Duna. Where could it have come from?

Scanning Tech"

What does it mean scanning tech? Did it unlock something?

You are right, it did unlock the "Scanning Tech" Pannel in your RnD building. I guess upon discovering those VERY strange monoliths, it unlocks the next research in a random field of science.

Cool!

If you look precisely you will see your monolith shines greenishly and Not white like the One on KSC. It the new art "the Randomlith" they spawn random in every new save (One per body) and give you one next tech node if you discover them.

Have fun with searching

I never understand this thing. If someone can reach duna or other Planets, its reasonable think he have already unlock all the tech free. at least for me.

I've gotten a probe to Duna (lander) without even having 2.5m parts before.

Yeah, not too hard if you keep it light and efficient. It's when you've already got like 8/10ths of the tree done that these types of things are at the most valuable - if all you have left are 1000+ science unlocks, that saves you some grinding when one gets unlocked.

Or if you use mods with realy big techtrees like Interstellar from Freethinker. 1 highnode is 10k science.

There is moment as you do not grind for science anymore but for Randomlith:D

The other situation is if you try to do Caveman Challenge on hard. There they are realy handy too.

And you have a challenge on every new playthrough because they are never on the same spot.

Rember to use them wisely, however.

You only get one per body in the kerbolar system, so the number is limited, and each one is harder than the last to fetch. You may have not too many problems for the ones on Mun, Kerbin, Minmus and Gilly, but those after won't be as easy.

Because they are new?

Read the changelogs at devnotes. A new chalenge for the old players. It's a pitty that the Magic Boulders have no more Monolith on them. But on other hand there are to many in the wild:D

Do you have to land a kerbal or do you still get an unlock with a probe?

As far i seen you only have to discover it.

But for personal log i plant a flag.
