The most frustrating glitch I've ever seen

This only started happening to me recently, and it involves undocking or going EVA in space. Basically, when I undock a lander from a ship, it will fly away, accelerating, despite the engines being turned off. I can't focus a different vessel either, since you can't switch while under acceleration. Because of this, I now almost always quicksave before undocking. When I forget and this happens, I feel like ripping my hair out. It also happened once when I went EVA. Has this happened to anyone, and how did you fix it?

Hi Jack,

I Encounter  this problem mostly if there is a clipping issue. Some objects clip in the hatch or in the docking port.

My work around is to tweak the modules farther away, one shift step is mostly enough.

No, but if it did I'd probably start with a proper support request in the appropriate section, complete with logs and mod-list (if mods are involved).

Space ships don't accelerate when they're undocked. It is just you. Either something is causing the acceleration (like having engines on without realizing it)
Or something triggers the acceleration state, which can be part clipped objects like urses says.
One thing is for sure, it is not a game breaking glitch and is likely triggered by something.
The proper thing to do is troubleshooting for the cause. Only if it has no detectable trigger I would report it as a official glitch.

Is this only on one vessel? If 'yes' then try to reassemble it in the VAB and make sure nothing clips and see if it keeps happening.

My throttle is always all the way down when undocking, and this happens with every craft that has a lander/docking port.

I don't use autostrut. I think this may be caused by a mod that I'm uninstalling today. Hopefully it was the mod's fault and it will be fixed.

@Jack Joseph Kerman as other users have mentioned, it is most likely a clipping issue, but you already said you don't think that was the problem. Did uninstalling the mod solve it? What mod was it?
