Starship would make a great wet workshop, though. If projections show that a crewed Starship can do TLI and landing with no refueling (DearMoon), then a full on tanker version (fuel tanks in the nose cone) *may* be able to do a one way landing with no payload. In addition, you can strip down the landing legs as they don't need to actuate or be landed upon in more than 1/6g gravity.

Then you could wet workshop the whole thing, but you'd still need to get the life support there, so it may not be that good of an idea.

with 1000 m^3 you have little use for an wet workshop. Tanks are large, empty and not insulated.
Using one as a methane and LOX tank on mars makes sense however as tanks take up a lot of volume unless you make them of shrinking size, stack like Russian dolls and weld together but this has its own problems.

Considering that almost any action in space is state funded, wouldn’t an act of “piracy” really just be an act of war?

Its some exceptions, one company raises some flag: they launch lots of rockets has plan on having an base on Mars and build an huge new rocket who look like its designed to eat satellites or even small space stations.

I can see the marketing now. The Boring Company eye-patches, rum, and tricorn hats.

The Boring Company does not condone trade in animals or birds so ye can find your own parrots. Arrrrr.

It's not that much really, my house is around 300m³...

Houses don't count as you seldom move them. Closest thing is yachts but also tend to have mansion prices and higher upkeep costs.
Yes more reasonable prices are mobile homes, sailboats and houseboats who is far smaller but still way larger than the personal space you get on an starship.

More reasonable trying to go to Australia 150 year ago, even upper class and yes all of us are upper class by 1870 standard.
Yes that would change a lot in the next 40 years, far more in later generations.
Obviously Musk will get an private starship down the line. Rent it :)

I, for one, would pay good money to see a parrot in zero-G. Cuz they're like, smart and really adaptable.

Also, there's a tweetstorm going on from various news types. I can't even...

Apparently, Starlink will be Krypton-powered. Insert jokes here.

Man this is nuts. I can't even try to post all the tweets. The engineering and thought that has gone into this system is insane, someone mentioned SpaceX's launch revenue at around $3 billion, there's a potential $30 billion in the whole internet thing. Six launches for basic US coverage, 24 international, they could be selling service to telcoms by the end of the year.

And then in 5 years, Gen1 will become redundant and start to be phased out already.  Plug and play on the ground, receivers can do ground links, satellites actually cost more to launch than build, Starship isn't necessary but would reduce launch costs by a factor of 5.

Launch delayed to 11:00 PM EDT. No official reason yet.

The earlier concern was upper level winds. With deep chilled propellants, F9 cannot really hold on the pad, they have to prep for a certain T=0, then go for it (prop loading is ~30 minutes). Once they start, they have to wait til the next window, because they cannot recycle and go again in 90 min. So I think they will push it off in increments if the winds are dying down.
