We KSP players are spoiled by an equatorial launch site, making inclination not an issue. IRL, Inclination is THE issue.

Yeah, but both Progress and Soyuz has had accelerated rendezvous, down from their usual 1 day to 6 hrs. They're even norther than KSC. Could SpaceX work something like that out ?

Space Station Freedom would've seen a dedicated propulsion module on the truss structure (of all places), but Mir-2 is a good thing to tuck on.

The original Mir, despite not having much of truss structure, used it for a "thruster on stick" RCS.

Sure they can. But they have to do it the same way- get a perfect window where the station is at the right point in the orbit when the launch site passes under that orbit. Fiddling with orbital characteristics doesnt change that.

Doesn't Orion count?

Barely. While the EFT-1 test flight used an Orion command module structure, it's internals had nothing required for human habitation, particularly controls, environmental/life support systems, human-usable avionics, and the like.

EFT-1 also didn't fly on its own launch vehicle, the still-in-construction Space Launch System, nor was it supported by its ESA-built Service Module, also in work.

EFT-1 satisfied tests of the Orion's thermal protection system testing very well, but it was far from the human-rated version that will need a wholly different set of qualifications in flight.

DM-1 is a complete Crew Dragon, except its human control interface isn't active (no human aboard in flight right now) but all other systems are operational.

Sophora.

Spoiler

Next to it there is another smaller truss Rapana (for sci equip).

Also Sophora was a flapole for the USSR flag, and we need this functionality in KSP.

Longer video of the hatch opening:

Perhaps it is me, but it seems that the hatch takes a certain volume and could be an obstacle to the crew movements.

It's certainly less of an obstacle than the conical probe assembly of the SSVP "male" adapter.

And there’s a modestly curtained-off toilet, in case launching into space makes you feel a bit queasy.

It always does.

That's only ever in the cabin after they have docked, and any docking is almost certainly to something far larger, so no one would go back into Dragon til return to Earth.

So it seems at first, but consider that the hatch has to go somewhere no matter how it's built. It takes up a certain volume that needs to be stowed. And it probably gets less in the way if it's in the capsule than in the docking adapter.

Also, what a strange feeling it must be for the ISS crew to have another spacecraft docked. Imagine being locked inside your house for months, and most of its rooms have no windows. Then suddenly one day the house has an entirely new room that wasn't there before and that will shortly disappear again. Sounds like the premise of a kids' fantasy novel!

I also think the Dragon capsule would be a somewhat neat place to hang out. Compared to the rest of the ISS, it must feel so tidy, without all the stuff on all the walls (and on ISS, every surface is a wall, with something attached to seemingly every square centimeter of it). It has nice, reclined seats you can pretend to sit in. It even has windows, which is a rarity on the ISS. A place to rest your mind.

Mr. Muskowski has never been this close to blowing his cover.

Well, Katya’s technically wrong.

Amusingly, a Russian tweet preceeding it rags on about flight safety, as if the issue with docking software hadn’t been settled.

As to Rogozin, his Twitter account is protected. Reportedly, this is after his tweets from 2011 and 2012 became basis of accusations of nepotism towards his nephew Roman - it’s recent, just this Thursday.

So no more promises of making visits in a Tu-160.

No mention of SpaceX, Crew Dragon or Elon Musk, just colleagues from NASA, so technically Katya isn’t wrong.

And that Russian tweet is weird, as if it was written by someone very drunk. “We welcome the development of cooperation and hope that the cooperation will develop”. Vodka much?

Just thought - Oleg Kononenko (ISS commander) didn’t mention SpaceX in his speech too, only NASA. Interesting. Do they hate Elon that much

Well, they're technically correct still. But I have a strong suspicion they really dislike the idea of any non-state spaceflight. Musk is either working for NASA, or he's working for USAF/NRO/SF; he can never be considered as an autonomous entity outside geopolitical context.

Will they mention specific people at Boeing and ULA when Starliner arrives?

NASA spent the money to buy the development of new spacecraft, it's a NASA mission, I see no real issue here.

When Starship/Super Heavy flies, then that's a pure, private spacecraft.

When/if they fly a full crew version, lol, it entirely obviates ISS anyway (Starship has a pressurized volume as planned that is about a Space Shuttle pressurized volume larger than ISS right now.)
