Sorry, guys. :(

Dad's insisting that I get to bed at a decent hour tonight because I've been late to school this entire week and making stupid mistakes like forgetting to turn something in.

I've been waiting several months...

Oh, look, it's past me. Sorry, dude, I let you down.

I have to be in work precisely as it starts :( But hey, daydreaming about what Elon will pull out his hat will keep me entertained all day :D

The changes to the ITS spacecraft :

Those little delta wings.....

They have gone for 4 landing legs.

Engines are hidden.

Looks finer than the previous design.

I wonder how many less people it will carry, something tells me less than 50. But that's still really impressive for one ship xD

Heh, y'all worrying about staying up too late while I'm worrying if I'll get home in time after another day of chauffeuring around tweaked out ne'er-do-wells.

stay in school, kiddies!

For a "baby" ITS, that's still pretty flarping big! Jeff Bezos is gonna be sooooo miffed. :D I wonder why the sudden change of heart about the moon, tho?

If I had to guess, I might say something along the lines of the general public thinking Mars is impossible for  humans to get to, but the moon is much easier, and would be more likely to fund it because it seems more reasonable.

No clue. Nothing's changed that would make the Moon make any sense. It'd be great if it did, but it just doesn't work out.

Well, seeing as they seem to have plans, I daresay they made it make sense.

Also, how much contribution could Starlink make? Could lunar colonists get WiFi? That could give a good incentive to go along with the 1.3 sec delay, near real time chat with family.

Everything that matters has changed, or was never where he needed it to be. Only the US has real interest in Mars, it's too expensive for anyone else, and even then the US doesn't want to spend the money.

The Moon is close. ESA has interest, JAXA has interest, everyone has interest, because it's doable with far less effort. Any gains made on the moon in terms of tech, or infrastructure are directly applicable to Mars. Reliability testing can happen, so they don't find out that the life support needs X extra parts for 1000 day missions, but they only supply X-1 on the vehicle, etc.

From the article:

Shotwell confirmed that SpaceX is currently attempting to procure nuclear materials in order to conduct research and development of nuclear propulsion for spacecraft.

Literally the sound that I made when I read that:

Not yet. Unless Tom Mueller has a FFSC hydrogen engine up his sleeve.

Maybe they just isru lox on the lunar surface? Or fueler tanker in lunar orbit. Or both.

3.6:1 ratio means most of the propellant mass is lox.

Definitely a little awkward for methane engines.
