I remember going to see the original movie in the theaters when I was a boy. The allegorical parallels with nuclear armageddon made it all the more scary for a kid like me who grew up during the cold war. Even so, I'm looking forward to seeing this new series:

Wow, that looks like it will be good.  Glad they're sticking with the oldschool techniques, it'd probably have been easier to go the cgi route.
