The planets still look the same. Which ksp versions are supported?

Pretty much every version is supported. The latest being 1.7.x.

If you are seeing typical normal stock planets, be sure you are installing the mod + dependencies correctly

Honestly I think the version before you added the lights was the best.  The lights in the latest release are cool, but the whole Kerbin atmosphere and clouds was way better in the old version.  This new one looks way too plastic.

Long live the KSPRC textures though.

I'm not keen on it.

I had this same concern, the city lights looked a little... off. Sorry, not trying to offend, but it just didn't look right.

I pulled the city lights textures into PS and played with the levels and contrast.  They ended up much better IMO. (Of course, I wouldn't want to share those files or infringe on the mod maker in any way, but my preference were subtle changes).

I'm curious if this pack would cause lags when changing from ship view to map view. My system is not very high-end.

Yes it will cause the same lag, because AVC is not set up to deal with the new on demand features of Kopernicus.

Thanks, i'll check it out.

Meanwhile, it seems that the main culprit for the lag was not the astronomers, the outer planets mod. I switched to JNSQ and the lag is gone. I assume Galileo already included the hotfix in it.

Well hopefully you weren't trying to run astronomers and OPM with JNSQ, because they don't work with it.

I'm having some slight bugs, I assume there might be other stuff but I haven't check or went anywhere.

First major issue is simply no color on the KSC grass.

Second is I'm not sure if aurora is supposed to look like that.

As well as some obv edges in textures nor sure what would is causing it.

I deleted/turned off city textures as I just don't like them, Was trying to get just lights but wasn't working.

Here is my gamedata folder (does include some old mods I'm not sure if work but seem to not cause any issues)

EDIT: it is the KSPRC textures, I followed the instructions here. so I have no idea.

EDIT 2: Removing the KSPRC textures only fixed the issues with the KSC, I didn't notice anything wrong with clouds but the aurora still looks weird.

NEW ISSUE I FOUND I THINK.

I'm not sure if Moho is supposed to look like this?

It has a normal thin atmosphere underneath the bubble.

I'm pretty sure that's how Moho is supposed to look. I think that's an ablation layer caused by the proximity to Kerbol

Artwork by Astronomer :)

What's hoped to be achieved in the final update for Astronomer's Visual Pack (for KSP 1 )

General

  • New "puffy" volumetric cloud particle
  • Visible, finer snow particles
  • Lightning matches with dense cloud regions on applicable bodies
  • Configs for Outer Planets Mod
  • Visual optimization for new planet textures in 1.8
  • Massive performance improvement
    • KSPRC is no longer recommended
  • Working KS3P configuration bundled

Kerbin

  • Improved cumulus and cirrus cloud layers
  • Sparser, high-quality city lights

Minmus

  • Geysers clamped to flats only

Jool

  • Finalized cloud colors
  • Custom detail texture

Laythe

  • Custom detail texture
  • Less intrusive clouds
  • Enhanced bioluminescence

Thank you for playing with AVP, and here's to what the future holds!

So I'm having this issue with Duna under 2.5x. It appears to be scatterer thats causing the strange "fog" thats at the lower attitudes but it seems like anything I change regarding scatterer doesn't affect it unless I completely turn it off.

And besides that, I'm also having trouble with City lights. They're very faint even without KS3P on top of it. Any ideas for increasing that?
