Duna Station construction process

So I accepted a mission to plant a flag on Duna, and decided I was going to make it more complicated: A station in Duna orbit, with a reusable lander, and potentially refuelable by mining Ike. I'm playing on Hard, and to make it easier to fix the inevitable design mistakes I wanted to troubleshoot the station in Kerbin orbit, before shipping it to Duna all at once. Thrust and irregularly-shaped objects don't mix well, so figuring out how to do that was a challenge.

For (I think) the first time I made a point of taking pictures as I went. I thought the solution I came up with might be of interest here. The pictures are in an imgur album here, but since I have basically no contact or interest in the imgur community I'm posting it here as well.

(I've never messed with imgur embedding before, bear with me if this doesn't work as intended)

that's a beauty of a mission buddy. Pretty station too. These kerbals will not lack "living 'n space".

I'm pretty sure that, if I decide I'm done with Duna, I can pack it up again and ship it to Jool or something. The same linearization trick should work just fine a second time.
