Custom IVAs?

Hi all, I was just wondering how to make a custom IVA for something, like a command pod using either a blank IVA (I had one where it was just completely black, but the Kerbal was sitting. It was like the Kerbal was in a black hole or something), or the 'placeholder' IVA (The one with a big empty wall in front, and in the back, and with glitched windows out the sides) So, as this is the place (presumably!) to talk of add-ons and mods, does anyone know how to make an IVA? I know basic texturing skills, like making illuminated surfaces and 3d models, but how do you make an IVA, and then get it into KSP?
