Achievements?

This is a quick little suggestion, for the addition of achievements into the game. For example, you could earn one when you first get into orbit. Or your first successful re-entry (Jebediah Kerman was not violently killed!), or for landing on the Mun, Minmus, Duna, etc. What are your thoughts on this?

Steam achievements will most likely never happen (because the game is not exclusively distributed by Steam).

Other than that why not? I personally think they are completely pointless, but some people might like them.

Why?  I can pat myself on the head and say "good boy!" whenever I want.  I don't need the game to do it for me.

 

 

 

I prefer something like the Final Frontier mod that tracks and rewards you in a meaningful, in-game way.

Yes, but this is for the PC version (calling it PC version seems weird now...)

Would you suggest they be built into the game, such that they are seen only within KSP or part of a "social" kind of platform such as Steam?

I wouldn't like them to spend an entire update on only one platform, I don't have steam, so I wouldn't really like a steam achievements only update

This. I use FF and it is a great way to rotate crew between flights so Jeb (etc) don't end up with all the milestones.

 

Plus the rank insignia add-on for FF is a nice little extra immersion
