KSP makes everything slow and laggy on linux

I just got my new hard drive for my computer with Ubuntu on it, but whenever I play KSP, it's incredibly slow and laggy. It also slows down everything else running on the computer. Does anyone know why this happens?

Edit: My Memory is 7.5 GiB, my Processor is Intel® Core™ i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz × 4 , my Graphics Card is Intel® Ivybridge Mobile / Gallium 0.4 on NVD7, my Base System is Ubuntu 17.04 64-bit and my Disk Space is 991.2 GB.

If I understand that correctly, you have same hardware, but with new disk and new ubuntu installation? My first guess at culprit would be GPU drivers upgrade (i.e. nvidia to noveau) but you need to be more specific about your setup.
