Any humanoid robot simply must do a jump to the station through space, grab a handle, and open the airlock manually.
If required, put a fist through the wall of the docking chamber and open the door from inside. (He can repair it later, he is trained, we have seen.)

In other words, do as usually.

All ship equipment is fine, next docking attempt on Monday, at 08..09 o'clock (Moscow time).
The close approach radio equpment has minor issues to be repaired soon.

Skybot The Fedor feels nice, is monitoring onboard situation.
But he was not trained to dock himself, so he can't into docking.

A space expert is guessing that the ship has about a week for attempts due to the limited fuel, though was equipped to spend a year being docked.
He says that if it can't dock, it probably will be deorbited and sunk in the ocean (so, Fedor will be Aquabot).

The docking issue could appear due to the new approaching & docking system, not enough debugged.

Well. That’s not good. Better than an extra percussive docking, though

So I’m a bit confused. I assume the craft drifted away? Or is it kinda just hanging out around the station? Also, is Fedor riding in the seat or the cargo compartment? I wonder if they can see him sadly staring out of the window...

Shoulda brought space rope. And a space robot cowboy hat.

All was going OK, but at 200 m from the station (i.e. on close approaching) there appeared some oscillations of the ship, never faced before, caused by unproper working of the approaching and docking system.

Probably, the problem is not in the ship, but in the station antenna amplifier. Cosmonauts will check&repair the antenna.

Next attempt can be attempted on Sunday.

Next attempt - 27 Aug (Tue).
They will re-dock MS-13 to the docking port which faced problems, then manually dock MS-14 (with the fedorobot) to its place (on Zvezda/Star module.)

Currently MS-14 is rotating, being oriented to the Sun. See Persistent Rotation mod for details fun.

They don't say, but the usual practice is: nobody onboard a station without a rescue seat, so probably somebody will be in the ship..

Alexander Skvortsov’s crew.

I think they will all be on the ship. Skvortsov, Morgan, Parmitano.

Otherwise there will be a situation when there aren’t enough lifeboats on the station.

What, so he can shoot guns and drill holes in the ship, but he can’t dock? What sorta cheap, cut-rate Terminators are y’all making over there?

Ok but seriously, y tho? Why couldn’t they just do a normal landing back in Russia-ish?

He already can drive a car, a quad (you can see this in video), but he's just learning to board a spaceship from jump.

I don't know, that's written in the article.
Maybe, the capsule is not equipped with chutes, as Fedorobot should stay in orbit.

I thought he was just going for a 2-week stint? Part of the certification of the new craft design?

According to this, yes, 2 weeks + 3 days for approach, and land in Kazakhstan.

Why did they write about the ocean - who knows.
Originally there should be 2 fedorobots onboard, but later they decided that 1 is enough, otherwise they will get bothered with their loading into the door, and there will be no free place in ISS.
Unlike the standard bionoid crew member weighting up to 95 kg (interesting, did KSP take this value, or the ship is proven by KSP), a fedorobot weights 160 kg.

Another funny moment: they have replaced his legs with another pair of hands.
So, Skvortsov who is trained to possess it,  probably had a lot of new experience, doing this first time after the 3 mln years pause.

***

There was already a humanoid robot (Robonaut-2) from 2011 to 2018, but due to malfunctions he was returned to the Earth.
Of course, he is going to return back to ISS. But probably he can shoot from two hands.

***

As written at this link, originally they weren't going to send Fedorobot to space, though he is based on SAR-400 and SAR-401 projects for NBC emergency services.
As the emergency services didn't adopt him, they decided to let him fly on PTK NP in 2021, then in 2022. And at last sent him on Soyuz.

FEDOR is named by Rogozin, it's "Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research". Coincidentally it's a name of Rogozin's elder grandson.
Originally it was called "Avatar".

Before the launch the FEDOR's instance for the spaceflight was renamed in Skybot F-850.
According to Rogozin, FEDOR asked for this himself in twitter.
F because it's Avatar of FEDOR family. What is 850 he didn't explain.

The mission emblem is DaVinvi's picture "Creation of Adam" with a human and a robot hands.
