Russian Launch and Mission Thread

Recommended Posts

Reminds me of SLS. Overpriced non-reusable rocket that’s no better than its predecessor, delayed by many years, outdated and obsolete by the time of its first launch.

The thing I hate the most about it is that good engineers are wasting their lives on a bad project.

Does anyone know what the ball on top of the N-1M was supposed to be?

Maybe a misheard lyrics / scaled model of this one?

The ISS crew had isolated the leaking transfer chamber of Zvezda/Star module for 18 hours, and the pressure inside it has decreased by 100 mm of mercury (13% of atmospheric pressure), from 730 down to 620.

The ISS is close to loose the safety reserve of breathable gases.

The ground crew asked them to find abother leakage place in the chamber, which they can't understand where.

There are probably two leaking cracks.

(Not a new news, but an old news, from Jan 2019.)
I've just read the thing which has gone unnoticed here.

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=ru&sl=ru&tl=en&u=https://ria.ru/20190124/1549825120.html

The PTKNP/Federation/Oryol/Eagle has been equipped with a full-featured dining table, and it has been successfully tested.

The experiment has been performed by the head of the space flight department Mark Serov, the leading test engineer Yuri Limansky, and the junior research(er/ fellow) Stephanie Fedyai.

During the on-ground  simulated spaceflight they performed the food taking, laying it on the table, and further ingestion, like the crew in a real flight would do this.

Also they've performed other ergonomics experiments, including the restroom visit during the autonomous flight, and spacesuits drying and folding.

Rogozin admits that the air is actually leaking through the instruments in the American  part of ISS.

"When the American part was isolated, all instruments in it were disabled.
It's likely possible that the air leaks outside through these instruments when they are enabled.
So, the work has actually just started and is running as planned."

I think Trampoline Man went off the reservation this time.

Alright, I know Burlak (upper right), and we'll ignore the Akerikanets in the bottom right... what the heck is that on the bottom left?

It's not a heck, it's LLC Marengo/Маренго. At the middle of the page.

And... It's really an ekranoplane.
(Wouldn't you post this picture in the "Real life Kerbalisms" thread, too?)

Not just yet. Astronautix via the British Interplanetary Society reports of an Albatross hydrofoil-boosted spaceplane system... this could be its distant descendant, since the Alexeyev guys were probably involved in both.

But it seems like there's exactly two lines about it on the whole of Runet.

An Ekranoplan shuttle transport/launcher?? Hah, I love it! :D And looks like they had plans to vertically launch a missile from a cargo plane, too.

Rumors say that Roscosmos is excluded by NASA from the lunar program, stopped receiving the mailing and so on, and lost the access to docs.

***

Upd.
The rumors prove true.

https://www.interfax.ru/russia/746682

https://www.interfax.ru/russia/746690

Rogozin stated that Russia is not interested in the American lunar program participation.
"How could we be expelled from a group, the members of which we had never been?
Yes, NASA sent to us a couple of times some documents, ran a briefing (not a discussion, but a briefing).
But we had already stated not once that we are ready to participate in a project where all members are equal."

The Roscosmos PR stated that Russia decided to exit the Gateway lunar project, but still is ready to continue a dialog with colleagues from US.

Well, there's another nation that's trying to do it as well. Maybe partnering with them could help...

(Was never counting or thinking about that, but suddenly opened wiki and followed the links)

The Mir station (Mir, not ISS) was visited by 104 humans.
Including 71 foreigners, including 53 US ones.

So, of 104 humans on board, 50% were Muricans, 32% Soviets, 18% others.
