Attention profilic programmers! Bobcat is alive!

Right enough it's been a good while since anything was last heard from BobCat,  he created in the early days some magnificent models and addons, including a base system and a whole host of modular rovers,  sadly the rovers died due to changes in KSP and the rest faded into obscurity with the lack of author support or active threads.

Some of the items below, by no means most or all, there was a whole series of Russian spacecraft , so yeah in his day he was a bit of a trend setter and inspired many

I've been around awhile and never heard of him so I'd wager some backstory would be beneficial to most people.

Bobcat was one of the earliest modders of KSP since prior to 0.20.  He made one of the earliest surface base modules with expandable/inflatable habs (see this post for his earliest work), but he made all sorts of surface modules, spacecraft, rovers (seen here in a Nassault video from 2013).

I believe he might have made the first rover wheels for the game (as a mod of course).  It was known as ClevorBobcat or similarly named.

The first working powered wheels in KSP would have to be these ones:

I can't remember the name of the mod and the creator but in the Reddit thread i found this picture it's called Tosh rover mod.

After looking into it the mod was called Tosh's Cart and Bobcat Rovers seems to have used the same plugin

That's right! That little cart was awesome. I remember making rovers that used several of them side by side.
And around the same time, perhaps even before(?), there was another wheel mod, I think it was called the omni wheel? I'm pretty sure that was powered. you can see it in this vid I made back in 2012. (skip to 5:10, if the link doesn't do that).

I know that TT's omniwheel is a mod. I think it got revived a while back, but i dont know if its still around.

I remember Bobcat from my pre 0.19 days. His mk series rovers, HOME mods and romfarer's laser system were must haves.

Naw. All pale compared to the MK3 Rover bike.

It was so awesome it's full of rocket-sauce.

Bill had to have the Freddy Mercury moustache for this bike.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
