We really need ACES ASAP, it's an awesome upgrade to an already awesome stage. Yet another reason ULA should have gotten EUS.

(not sure they even tried (pretty sure they didn't), because Boeing is part of ULA)

Following the lineage of Centaur/ACES, it looks like it falls on the Lockheed Martin side of ULA. I can’t really tell what’s new about ACES besides IVF and maybe better insulation? Maybe I imagined it but I was under the impression that they were going to flight test IVF on Centaur before ACES becomes operational.

I just don’t see how ACES is a new stage rather than just a new evolution of a Centaur. Then again, I still think of Vulcan as Atlas 6 in much the same way.

ACES is the five-meter-wide Centaur, stretched, four RL-10s, IVF. IVF is more than just the ICE; it also includes autogenous pressurization (which we take for granted because Starship has it, but has not yet been done with Centaur or the DCSS) and autogenous ullage thrusters (Centaur currently uses continuously-firing hydrazine).

In typical BigSpace fashion too. Did they really need all those people in the control room(s)? I wonder how many people SpaceX had monitoring their Demo-1 flight of D2?

Sitting in front of the consoles or the ones you can hear cheering in the videos?  I'd expect them to have plenty, although most of the peoplehours will be spent pouring over the data saved after flight.
