As a fourteen year old boy I stood a Melbourne street corner and saw Sputnik go over.  I remember exactly where I was and who I was with. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

nobody at my school does though... just so you know saying "happy sputnik day" loudly to over 100 people at once over 200 times is NOT a good strategy to get people to know about a thing
