Chinese Space Program (CNSA) & Ch. commercial launch and discussion

As is the case with many launches, my comment referred more to the quality of the video than anything else.

It;s amazing how spoiled we've become. If it's not HD video, it looks terrible, and if there is not an on-board camera all the way to space, I'm similarly bored.

yeah, you westerners get spoiled. Getting the satellite and the rocket running smoothly is impressive enough for Venezuela and China already - in fact, for every single one of them !

Not really quickly, considering that the last crew left the station in 2013.

So what happened to the Chinese alternative to the ISS, are they abandoning having stations in space?

If by ISS alternative you mean a modular space station, they want to start building one next year. This Tiangong 1 and Tiangong 2 are equivalent to the eary Russian stations or Skylab.

Tinagong-2 (not the one about to reenter) will be the core module. This station is very much like the Salyut stations, and Mir. Note the 2 solar array modules look a lot like the Russian NEM concept.

They are Soyuz with a little bigger head.
2.5 times lighter than Salyut and ~10 times lighter than Skylab.

I meant equivalent in that they are put up in a single launch, not necessarily comparable in mass.
