LM-5 Y3 CCTV News Live Stream now (with latency)
https://live.bilibili.com/21686237

Estimated Launch at 20:48 UTC+8

I knew I was dreaming. Today I'm supposed to go on a date, get college apps done, and join friends in a video game... Already unrealistic enough, but a Chinese rocket launch with a LIVESTREAM? I'm going to be so sad when I wake up.

Oh man... what an eyesore of a page! It looks like anime dating site. Thank, but no thanks. It's morning, and my sleepy eyes can't take it before my first cup of tea.

Still... Chinese launch with actual livestream. What epiphany they had?

Happy Birthday, Chang'e-4 and Yutu-2!
Today is 1 year anniversary of the Chang'e-4 landing.

Since Jan 3rd, 2019, Chang'e-4 and Yutu-2 have transmitted 7.23GB data. Yutu-2 has traveled 357.695m(1173.54ft), and broke the lunar longevity record, previously held by the Soviet Union's Lunokhod 1 rover.

On Jan. 2nd, Chang'e-4 and Yutu-2 entered 13th Lunar Night and went into hibernation.

So... Lunar dragon?

Wow. China's really been going ham in the spaceflight industry in the past few years!

I wonder how or if this will play into their lunar landing plans. Would the lander be launched with this on a rocket, or would the lander be launched separately with a meetup in lunar orbit?

https://spacenews.com/rocket-nears-spaceport-for-chinese-space-station-test-launch/

The Long March 5B rocket is a version of LM5 without a second stage, designed for primarily LEO launches. The first test launch will be sometime in the coming months, scheduled for April, and it will carry China's prototype next generation space capsule (which resembles Dragon 1 with a pretty hefty service module) into LEO where it will fire its engines to reach 8,000km and test high speed re-entry. It should be able to carry up to 6 crew, or 3 crew and 500kg of cargo.

The next LM5 will launch a spacecraft to Mars.

The next LM5 will launch Chang'e 5.

The next LM5, a LM5B will launch Tianhe, which has likely been delayed to early 2021.

The American counterpart to this would roughly be Orion's EFT-1.

If things continue as they are now, China may give NASA a run for their money.

This begs the question, is China building a Starship-esque rocket somewhere?

From what we've see, construction of at least the initial prototypes can be done reasonable cheaply. I would not be surprised if they had a facility out in the middle of nowhere cranking out steel rings right now given how quickly China seems to be moving in the spaceflight industry as of late.

Something I've been wondering about too. I don't want to say they copy everything but we've seen these so far: Dragon/Orion capsule, grid fins on an orbital rocket, mini F9 (which hopped a couple of times) and a presentation about something that looked a lot like F9H. I bet a Chinese Starship is at least in the concept stage.
