Flag-ception overload[?Spoilers?]

So doing a new career in RSS, just roaming around the space center collection science when I came about the brilliant idea of planting a flag on the KSC flagpole.

upon doing so bob immediately exploded, the flag-creating UI didn't appear and the game froze, i could rotate the camera just fine and time still passed but i couldn't control bob, jump back to my rover with [ ], or go back to the space center.

Is this intentional or did I glitch out on a particularly hilarious moment?

If it is, props to whoever made it happen, laughed my ass off.

going to try it again soon and see if it happens again.

Dunno if this is unrelated but my flag in in RSS looks weird and kaput. No screenshots though.
