Should I save my Kerbal or give them a colony?

I finally got to da Mun, but stranded Jeb, Bill, and Val. Should I send a colony or a rescue ship? Or something else?

How about both? In your rescue mission, send along some supplies.

It depends on where he is at... Besides, with @Angel-125's mods, it is actually possible to create a survival kit for long and risky missions.  This is what I now do... I also keep an unKermaned probe with emergency supplies in orbit around the Mun just for such occurrences...

If this is really the first time you ever *got* anyone to the Mun, and you now have three stranded Kerbals there....

Hold a nice memorial for them, and move on.

A rescue mission is MUCH harder than the flags-n-footprints mission you just failed.

A permanent colony structure is *absurdly* more difficult.

A high stakes, adrenaline fueled rescue mission is the ONLY option.

Just Imagine it...

Bob Kerman is "The Rescuer"... scrub that, too literal.

"The Scientist"... ah, too sciencey, the kids won't like it.

"The One"... Nailed it!

A one in a million chance to save the stranded crew of a Mun mission gone wrong. Trapped on the barren landscape of an alien world with snacks and hope running low.

Only the chiseled good looks, no nonsense attitude and zippy one liners of your A list star can save the day.

The dramatic music, cutting edge (well not quite) special effects, slightly ropy dialogue, liberty taking with the facts, and a slew of expendable extras will make this THE hit of the summer.

Leave them there until you feel sure that you can easily rescue them without much difficulty. Right now, don't worry about it.

Well, if you're new to the game, send a rescue mission. It's a good challenge to try to land near a specific target.
