Mk. 3 Vehicle DropPod Challenge

SG Aero

Recommended Posts

Okay the challenge here to to make an orbital drop pod that that drops a vehicle of some sort onto a planets surface. The pod is not allowed to leave the surface after landing and should deploy a single vehicle. The vehicle must be fully contained in a mark 3 bay.

You will be judged on 3 categories: cost, Size, and coolness factor. I will mark down the highest scorers in each category below. Pictures are required for the coolness factor category and because I want to see what others have come up with. For the first so categories lower is better.

Cost:

1. MiffedStarFish - 60,490

2.

3.

4.

5.

Size:

1. MiffedStarFish - 76

2.

3.

4.

5.

Coolness Factor

1. MiffedStarFish - PREPARE FOR TITANFALL

2. DoctorDavinci

3.

4.

5.

It has stock hinge landing legs, and holds a plane with folding wings.

The landing legs spread enough for the plane to be able to take off without bumping them.

How is cost determined? I ask because I sent a small craft to Duna as part of a much larger mission.

First the mother ship was assembled using parts launched in a Mk3 heavy lifter space plane, then the entire mother ship plus lander went off to Duna, then I detached the lander craft and sent it on its way to the surface. It landed on parachutes and deployed a RoveMate-sized rover.

1st question: it applies to the drop pod not the vehicle. The vehicle inside just needs to fit into the bay.

2nd question: it only counts the cost of the DropPod itself not the rest of the vehicle if it's part of a larger mission.

I just watched your video, @DoctorDavinci, and I liked it quite a lot! It took a much different turn from mine, as seen below. Ill add you to the coolness factor leaderboard. Could you please provide the dimensions and cost of the vehicle. BTW, im changing it from part count to size.

Here's mine.

LMAO! Part count? Cost? I think you usurped the current first in coolness factor. I would put my self first because I used stock hinges but that would be cheap. TITANFALL!

Also this is from a different universe but

Seid ihr das Essen?
NEIN, WIR SIND DIE YAEGER!
