Movie idea.

Space firefighters.

A big united family of brave firefighters operate from an orbital station.
They are watching for fires and sharpshooting them from the orbit with waterbombs.

BFR is used to bring a lot of water from the Earth. (A product placement for SpaceX, maybe they'll give some money.)
They freeze the water into super-cold ice rods which penetrate the atmosphere (an eye candy for the fanboys of "rods of gods") and fall as a local waterfall onto the fire source before it burns a half of Australia.

Also they are searching lost yachts, help to save kittens from the trees, etc.

Red orbital ships with blinking orange lights. Stylish helmets.

Slogan: "We don't pee on your hat".

Sometimes they catch pieces of space junk with their equipment and maybe even repair Hubble or so with a red duct tape.

[Nuke]

any hard scifi would be good. they kinda started down that path with interstellar and the martian. but then the copycats started slacking off and devolving into a bunch of space opera tropes. then they kind of died out all together.

someone has just got to want to do it instead of making another generic genre film.

 

oh and the girl with the dragon tattoo had some good haxxoring too, though i thought the movie was a bit long and drawn out.

Try screening 2001 uncut in front of a modern theater audience. HAL could murder 20 people, that still wouldn't rescue it. Theater audiences have changed; what was a runaway hit fifty years ago won't move the needle today. I'm not saying that's a good thing, I'm just telling you how it is.
