animated textures

Is it possible to use animated textures for the planets? I'm sorry for my English!

'Animated Texture' is a misnomer.  No such thing actually exists.  A texture is a static 2d image.  (go ahead, open up GIMP or PS, and try and make an animated texture...)

The 'animation' comes at runtime, by switching between a sequence of textures in quick succession, or by altering the pixels of an existing texture through code, or by adjusting the tiling/scaling offsets of the texture (so that it appears to 'move' across the surface).
