Sheep have 54 chromosomes, goats have 60. How could you not know this?

Yep, but the chromosomes don't show in the pictures ...

Hair/wool and horns are bad indicators. The woolly goat above is cashmere goat. Too much variability in skin/skin colour/hair, they always vary, especially in domesticated species, Btw. horn is skin (not the bone under it of course). The tail can serve and a parted lip, sheep have a cleft philtrum, but even that is a watery feature.

Archaeologists have a hard time distinguishing between sheep bones and goat bones.

And gourmets have a hard time distinguishing between goat and sheep cheese :-)

What trips me out about goats is the dumbbell-shaped pupils. Do sheep or any other animals have the same pupils?

Prey animals often have side to side eyes to look for predators better.

So I dug a little deeper and Google brought me this: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/08/07/430149677/eye-shapes-of-the-animal-world-hint-at-differences-in-our-lifestyles

I guess the shape of goat pupils stand out because their eyes are lighter colored.
