Planet Textures - COMPLETE Beginners guide needed

Recommended Posts

So I started building a Planet Pack earlier in the Year (in Signature).

However it has ground to a halt for 2 reasons, firstly RL got in the way. :/

Second, and more to the point, I do not know how to make the Textures at all.

So my question is what programs would I need (need to be free ones)

What tutorials would be recommended for me to view/read to get started? (on or off the Forum)

I would use paint.net or GIMP. Both are really flexible and plugins can be installed. And they are free. Or you can make the planets procedurally generated and have the colors like that also. As for tutorials, I think it is something you kind of have to teach your self.

Thanks for this, basically looking for a starting point/direction really. So that is why I'm asking.

Thanks for the suggestions.
