Hmm. I may attempt an Eve mission using an electric plane to put my return rocket nice and high in Eve's souposphere, or possibly even SSTO off of Eve.

The question is, can I successfully design a prop plane to work on Eve in one go, that's big, reliable, and powerful enough to get the return rocket to high altitude in one go...

Also wait... Is it possible to SSTO from Kerbin to Gilly to Eve to Gilly to Kerbin using ISRU and nuclear rockets?

No. The LV-N has no thrust in Eve's atmosphere.

No it has thrust, just only meaningfully above the 2 atmosphere line.
