Alright ladies and gents, i promised you dogfights, and you shall get dogfights. Rounding up our first fight, we have an aircraft with a long history. Its first variant won the 9/11th fighter wing honorable mention after two aircraft ran into the VAB during a single dogfight. Its second variant, a delta dart, held a spot in the rankings as a missile slinging champion. But will @53miner53's new, clipped-wing Fighter 3 MK3 be able to take on the dankness of @Abraxis's DN-65es?

No, not really. The stubby wings may help with roll rate and radar signature, but the DN-65 had radar locks at the 15km mark and just ate the competition. Open and shut, 6-0 win for the DN-65. 4th tries the charm, miner?

Which plane wins depends alot on whether you're using the newer BDA versions, 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 introduced some very radical balance changes to radar and armor etc. So I am holding off on building actual competitive planes.

@exbyde Which BDA version are we using for this one?

1.0. 1.1 was causing weirdness (Bullets didnt cause damage, instead the image of a bullet moving fast got stuck in the aircraft like spears until the high part count caused my computer to potato.

Please give it its proper name. That's rude and I know you wouldn't like it if I called you airplane that.

Don't know how that's rude but alright.

Alright, and for our next fight, we have...a civil war! Lets see how @Abraxis dank DN-65c does against the DN-65es. Same plane, different tuning.

Unsurprisingly, the C surpasses the ES by a good margin, and goes on to fight the Novi

My plane doesn't have a radar nor jammers.

Ooohh boy...do i have a fight for you now. On one end of the KSC we have @Abraxis' DN-65c, an improvement of the DN-65es that was in the #4 spot for the longest time. Its an agile fighter that relies on great maneuverability and decent missile handling. On the other side is @NotAnAimbot's Novi, a thesis on the superiority of lightweight, single-engine design that has done exceedingly well in combat. Both of these aircraft have a lot of potential, but who will reign supreme

These fighters are very well matched for each other, and trade kills with ease. The DN-65 is just stealthy enough to match the Novi's low profile, and get missiles off at roughly the same time as the Novi. This was close, but a final duel of the cannons in the final round sealed the Novi's fate, with the DN-65 losing an engine and part of a wing as the novi came apart at the seams. Awesome job Abraxis.

NEW RULE:

all fighters must have either a manned cockpit, 100 units of electric charge, or enough RTGs to support the aircraft sitting on the ground for 15 minutes. This can be something that ejects with the landing gear toggle (Eidahlil's takeoff trolley on the pike has an rtg that falls away with it). Bit of a pain trying to deal with the drones shutting off after 1min due to 5u of battery.

Maybe, but it’ll probably be shelved for a while. I think I need a whole new design for the current roster. I have one that I can submit tomorrow.

No worries. No ex post facto.

Alright, lets get on to our next fight. @Abraxis' DN-65c takes on @drtricky's dorito for the #3 spot. The little changes that Abraxis has made to the DN-65 have helped it bound through the competition, but will it be enough?

Yeeees...The first battle was technically a win by the DN-65. A software glitch prevented the DN-65 from getting off its AIM-9 or switching to the Vulcans while the Dorito ran out of ammo. The second battle was far more decisive. It appears the large delta wing on the Dorito is a lot more draggy in maneuvers than the DN-65's  airfoil, as seen by its sudden loss of speed in turns. DN-65 moves up to the #3 spot.

And while we are here, lets move on to our #2 match, my Mini Val up against the DN-65.

There's not much to say, this was a huge bloodbath for the Vals, as not a single DN-65 fell to their missiles or guns.

Yes, two are uploading. @Abraxis for the love of jebus please stop using the stock medium gear. It makes life not fun.

Two workarounds I found for this if using F9 reloads is to save craft with medium LGs with the gear retracted, then on scene load, re-extend the gear. The other involves pausing right as the scene loads, opening the F12 menu, and temporarily setting gravity to 10 right after craft spring up to plant them firmly back on the ground. Still annoying, but faster than respawning/repositioning craft each time.

Alright, and for our final battle for @Abraxis dn-65c, we have @Eidahlil's Pike defending its number one spot. This aircraft did exceedingly well at wiping the floor with the roster...can it do the same for the dn-65c?

The short answer is yes, unfortunately. The Pike is still very efficient at routing with the single AIM-9, and trades blows with the 65c, to come out victorious. the DN-65c gets a new spot as #2 roster aircraft and an honorable mention as "The Butterfly Effect", for the only changes between the DN-65es and C were a trade between a pair of AIM-120s and AIM-9s and AI tweaks. Very little had to change to make this aircraft far more lethal than its predecessor.

@NotAnAimbot and @dundun92 i owe you an 8v8 of the Novi vs Kelp when my new rig comes in on the 10th. Somehow the Novi and Kelp killed each other in the 3rd round, with only a single Novi pilot managing to survive the final head on pass. However, i am inclined to give the win to the Novi for the time, as the novis were flying in a straight line for the longest time for some reason while the last Kelp picked off two of the 3 novis.

Was fooling around with some designs and ended up with something that was both superior and lower part count that the X-02 Taisch. I don't know if you've recorded the Taisch battles yet, but if not, would it be possible to withdraw the Taisch and replace it with the Delphinus?

sure. I'll replace the X-02 with the Delphinus, since you've been waiting. I've got one of the fights for the 455 done, i'll probably put the last one off until tomorrow, have the day off.
