Weird contracts

Recommended Posts

Got contract to land outpost to the Gilly. Nothing wrong with the idea but it did ask me to have wheels on it. Come on, wheels on Gilly?!? I could barely find flat space on the asteroid so the 26 tonns outpost won't jump to orbit or self-destruct after switching time warp (quite annoying bug if you ask me), wheels on the body are completely useless. :)

And well, i think we need kind of graping hooks to tie stuff to the surface, really.

Wheels don't really have to touch the ground, do they? Just grab one smol buzzer wheel, attach it anywhere (hell, even on decoupler, so you can ditch it after it's done) and do the rest. I know it's stupid, but a lot of stock contracts are, but whatever, it gives sweet sweet money

I actually have a mining rover on Gilly. Its job is to roll over to the landed fuel shuttle, drop drills, and refuel it. The fuel shuttle is for Eve ascent vehicles that get stranded after reaching orbit and need to gas up to get home. The rover is no fun to drive (it spends a good deal of the time off the surface when moving; have to let it settle a bit to turn), but it actually works. As @The Aziz said, though, I don't think it has to be on wheels, just have them. If you do put it on wheels; my advice? Make it heavy. I always keep mine full of ore and fuel. It helps.

I've tried to use RCS engines to press down the outpost to the surface while moving on wheels but doesn't help really. It is 26 tonns heavy already, but still jumpy. :) I know, kerbals are crazy but pay for wheels on Gilly... Well...
