Pathfinder modules not inflating

So I have recently installed @Angel-125's pathfinder mod. I have been running some tests, just so that I understand how it works, and I don't accidentally send a mission without the parts it needs. I followed the instructions provided, but whenever I hit the inflate button, I am given this warning "Cannot Reconfigure. Either crew the module or perform an EVA"

I have tried reconfiguring it , both in the field and in the VAB, and I am stumped. Help?

EDIT: I am running KSP 1.2.2, and this should be the most recent version of pathfinder.

@JadeOfMaar What do you mean by this? Do I need one on the ship that is connected to it, or does an engineer have to do it from outside? Or does the engineer have to have a certain level?
