January 31st Lunar Eclipse Thread

Recommended Posts

Sorry, a bit late.

If you don’t know, in 2 hours (at time of writing) the moon will pass into the Earth’s shadow and create a Lunar eclipse. As well as that, it also is a Supermoon, making it a cool experience to see. If you manage to take a photo or video of it feel free to share it here. Unfortunately, it is visible from where I am (Australia) but it is cloudy... Damn you Aussie summer weather! That also happened to me last time.

Let’s Discuss!

Was nice here, my wife woke up the kids, and they sat out there in the cold on  the patio with hot chocolate watching it for over an hour (no kidding).

I'm the astrophysics person, and I went out in my boxer shorts and t-shirt looked at it, said, "Yep, a lunar eclipse, all right." then went back to bed, lol.

Checked later... they were still out there, so I dragged the binos and telescope out for a while.

I didn’t even know that my area would see any part of the eclipse...until I saw a large red moon with a fuzzy chunk taken out of it on my way to school that morning.

That must have been a pleasant surprise!
