@CliftonM Did i miss something?

I mostly mean that I'm not working on any updates right now, so it'll be fine to put it on CKAN by the time that I do.

Spacedock needs some servicing too. but as soon as i left for some vacation everyone working on it decided to do the same (or something like that). Im a bit upset about that.

Understood.

I spoke to politas from the CKAN team about the ability for mod authors to remove their mods from ckan.

As far as i understand it the implementation (and the discussion on how to implement it) isnt finished yet and
thus ive to wait with offering that function on SpaceDock.

@CliftonM May i ask why you changed your mind about your mod(s) beeing listed on CKAN?

I chose to remove them as part of the recent protest about CKAN.  I will be putting them back up after this is all over as I have saved the metadata.  In all honesty, you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Im testing a new caching system for SpacheDock.

You could help me by posting your location (city & country)  and the loading times of:

http://spacedock.info/kerbal-space-program

AND one of these:

http://s1.nyc1.us.spacedock.info:8080/kerbal-space-program (if you are in America)

http://s1.sgp1.sg.spacedock.info:8080/kerbal-space-program ( if you are in from Asia)

http://s1.ffm1.de.spacedock.info:8080/kerbal-space-program ( if you are in from Europe)

You can messure your loading times using the development tools of your browser

Thank you

@VITAS First link loads in 1.81 seconds, and the American one loads in 3.45 seconds. :)

Fisrt one I get 1.75s to 2.80s with about a dozen reloads... Most re between 1.91 & 2.25 though...

The nyc link: Also with about a dozen reloads, 1.70 to 1.93... most are between 1.75 to 1.83...

I am physically located ~250 miles from NYC... so netwrok distance could be between 250 to 10,000 miles, depending on routing... lol

EDIT:
Incidentally, I came here to post a feature request, and forgot about it, when I saw the post for server checks...lol

@VITAS , I know a Github PR would be best, but I have trouble accessing Github...

Any chance to possibly come up with a nice graphic for a SpaceDock download button, that authors could use to put their SD download links in their release threads? Maybe only offer it for download (or in HTML form, or link form), ONLY, directly from the mod EDIT or PUBLISH page?

I see some authors have nice big, generic download "buttons", and some devs have VERY hard to see, simple text links, that arent even sized larger than regular post body text, that are hard to find when scrolling thru a HUGE wall of text in the OP...

Maybe SD could make things easier for everyone, (and improve their branding :) ), by offering three or four sized "SpaceDock Download" graphic buttons devs could grab, and easily use in their release threads to link their SD links to... ???

As requested heres a download button for use on the forums to link to Mod Downloads on SpaceDock:

DLfromSpaceDock.png

Just include the following image:

http://spacedock.info/static/DLfromSpaceDock.png

and link it to your Mod site on SpaceDock.

I can make buttons for other things like dontation or sourcecode in the same style if needed.

I updated a mod recently, and it isn't yet showing the updated version on CKAN.  I'm not sure what the current scheme for CKAN updating is.  For a while, it seemed to be happening faster than I could switch programs and update the CKAN.  But recently, it seems to take a few hours.  And this last update seems to be taking more than a day.

This example is mod 425, which I updated to 0.8, but the last entry is 0.7 (https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/blob/1e0d4ed9b5fbf66f4c6b43f338a28a152031358e/NKRsDEM/NKRsDEM-0.7.ckan)

I'm not asking for some immediate support investigation.  Just thought I'd check if there was a known issue, like CKAN updates being intermittent and daily?  Or off.

Might be due to the recent deleting discussion and the amount of work they have because that but thats only an uneducated guess.

If you want some real answers check with the ckan guys in their channel.

Darklight did most of the ckan integration on SpaceDock. But as i understand it we have a direct link to them.

So all updates are getting transfert to them for processing as they happen.

Cool, I'll bug them.  It certainly did happen really quick for a while.

EDIT/UPDATE: Looks like it's probably due to me fudging the zip for the mod.  Pretty sure it's not a good idea to include a zip of a previous version inside the zip for the new version.  I'm going to introduce my head to my desk for a bit, then fix it.

This is a cut-n-paste from a post I made in the CKAN thread. Someone there suggested I report it to you guys.

Quote

I haven't figured out exactly how to submit a bug report, but ever since yesterday (maybe the day before), All Y'all has an update that has the following fail message:

"Failed to download "https://spacedock.info/mod/628/All Y'All/download/KSP_Version" - error: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."

I suspect this might mean that the file is not listed under its correct name, but I don't know where or how to report this, so I'm starting here and open to suggestion.

@SSgt Baloo The download for All Y'All worked for me yesterday, MANUALLY, right after it was posted on SD, and STILL seems to work fine...??

Maybe its a metadata issue, and not SpaceDock?

I reported to CKAN and they sent me here. I haven't been doing this long enough to tell the difference between being steered straight and getting the runaround. I suppose I'll just wait a few weeks to see if it gets straightened out?

maybe its  because of the ' in the url? could be a problem with urlencoding.

@SSgt Baloo is it working when using the website?

Probably. It should be converted to %20 and %27 like this:

https://spacedock.info/mod/628/All%20Y%27All/download/0.4

instead of this:

https://spacedock.info/mod/628/All Y'All/download/0.4

It still puzzles me why some people force unusual naming of folders, filenames and URLs with special characters like single or double quotation marks, dots and commas or special letters from country of origin. It just create mess everywhere.

Acording to JSON specifications, single quote should be allowed in structure, but can create mess elsewhere, in mono for MAC and linux or something.

Given that they have a CDN, a location you're checking from (or even better: the IP address spacedoc resolves to) is very likely to be helpful when reporting outages.
