Issue with Learjet

Recommended Posts

I have an issue with my Learjet. (stock Learjet to start with) I have changed the engines which might be the issue however when the plane is in normal time the wings are horizontal. When I warp time the wings angle up.

version is 1.3.1 with no mod or patches

time warped wing angle changed

What I do not get is why this is happening. Also modern Learjets have autopilot and at least the ability to maintain a set height above sea level (ASL). Is this going to be included in future updates?

Welcome to the forums Ian. Your question didn't really seem like it fit with the thread you originally posted it in, and as that thread was quite old I've gone ahead and moved your question to a new thread. :)

I'm not sure I understand exactly what's happening in your case, but I remember being confused by the SAS function pitching my plane up slowly over time. Is it just the wings that are moving when you warp time, or is the entire plane pitching up?

If it's the former, I'm afraid I don't have an answer. If it's the later, that's just how the stability assist works. SAS will attempt to hold your current attitude. . .if Kerbin were flat, it would make your plane fly straight. But since Kerbin is a sphere, the ground is curving away from you as you fly, and over time this will make your plane pitch up relative to the horizon.  You will need to make occasional adjustments when flying long distances.

This seems to be the normal effect of physics time warp (i.e. the kind of time warp you can do in the atmosphere which is limited to 4x). This kind of time warp tends to exaggerate the effects of physics on your craft. In any normal airplane, the wings support the weight of the fuselage. When this effect is exaggerated, the result is that the fuselage will seem to sag down between the wings, or seen the abnother way the wings will seem to be angling up. This is a normal artifact of physics time warp and there's nothing you can do about it. The good news is that this effect is mostly harmless.

Another shout-out to Atmosphere Autopilot here.

I mostly build planes and I wouldn't bother without it. About 99% of the time I'm in standard fly-by-wire mode which makes flying feel like it ought to be.
